Got my MRS4 on a track tonite for the first time and I gotta say I'm very pleasantly surprised. The track was perfectly suited to a car this size. I had to run in a mod class and there were only 2 other people in the class with me. Apparently the big class is the RC18r and all of the rest go into a mod class which is basically a few MRS4's and a bunch of M18's. Once I got the dust from my garage floor off of my foams the car stuck to the carpet like glue. I think with a better motor I'll be able to give those M18's a run. The one I went up against tonite was fast with his mamba 8000 but it looked like it was too much for this place. I'm thinking a Team Orion Elite Mod would do the trick nicely. Add a new rear shock and I'm golden. To think of all the trouble I had with this thing and now how much I love it is ridiculous.
You might want to try the solid front diff before you get a one way. I really like it. The main advantage is you get to keep the front brakes.
As for motors, the Orion BB/speed 300's are a great motor. I also like the Fireballs too. Just make sure you buy more then one at a time because you never know when one will die. Both motors will require a different motor plate for your car though. The elite mod won't cut it though. Its just a little faster then the HPI mod, which isn't much faster then the stock motor.
I you get a brushless setup, it will bolt straight on.
I just bought a micro Rs4 and was wandering what is the difference between the regular micro and the micro drift? Also any set up suggestions would be appreciated I am new to 1/18th scale.

The drift version comes with solid axles, drift box (gyro), and drift tires. There may be more differences but I think I got the major points. Just take a look at the HPIracing.com site and you can get a detailed breakdown of whats included in each kit.
As for setup, there isn't much to these cars. Your most important tuning will be tires and pinions. Now once you start talking hop ups, you have many different options.
I would reccomend going with a 6 cell 2/3 A pack or a 2 cell lipo right off the bat unless you race in a class with battery limitations. Also replace the front universals with steel or aluminum ones. A set of steel pinions will also be needed. www.integy.com had some really good pricing.
anybody need foam tires for your micro, we have pinks, magenta foams and lots of hpi micro rs4 parts for sale. please check our ad. we will also have RATZAS replacements soon.
