After you spend a decent amount of time behind the wheel, yes, you can ...

...ESPECIALLY on a very fine prepared surface like carpet. Simply changing from 60 wt to 50 wt can make a world of difference depending on your setup.

On another vehicle I have, I was having problems with the front rolling too much off-throttle, so all I did at first was go from 40 wt to 50 wt, and it made a BIG difference. Just one example

Questions?? RC18T Onroad Tires

Hey,

I am wondering what would be a good tire for an on road setup 18T. I was looking at the Proline Road Rage but am unsure if that's the direction I should go in. It will be used mostly on very smooth pavement and high speed runs.

Thanks
Shawn

The rear losi "street meats" for their mini-slider can be had in a hard compound
version. These might be worth a look.

I have an awesome set of slicks that you can use for your 18Ts onroad. Send me a PM if you are interested.

3-RACING makes an excellent on-road racing tire

The best strictly on-road tire I've ever used on the minis has been These slicks from TheToyz. I've got a set for my Mini-T and my 18T and they grip pretty well and they wear like iron.

Another contender are the Pro Pulse street tires that they sell at Radio Shack. Our local RS was selling wheel/tire sets for $1.97 so I bought up a ton of stuff.

I use the ProLine Road Rage tires on my 18T for parking lot racing. These tires stick like glue on the track that I race on...the slicks are the worst choice. It all depends on where you will be running. Some people swear by ProLine Road Rage, some by Losi Street Meats, some by Trinity street tires, some by slicks. For me it was going to be trial and error, but I made the best choice for my setup first! Good luck with your selection.

I liked the Proline Road Rage also but they'll ballon alot if you don't tape
them on the inside with packaging tape or something similar.

Slicks are the worst choice? If he's running on smooth clean pavement they're the best choice. I've got a set of ProLine Road Rages, I call them "Proline understeer... rage" because they don't hook up on anything.

For me, slicks are the worst choice. As I originally stated, tire choice depends on where you are running. For where I race, the Road Rage's are perfect with my setup. My 18t gets better as the day goes on since most of the cars running slicks get looser as the grape soda wears off the track where as mine benefits from the "understeer" as the day goes on when it really counts...the mains. I am actually interested in trying slicks if they are that good...
