question.

will the hitec 5245 mini servo fit. i have one laying around from old something or the other.
Vic - I used the servo in this link. It fit but I had to trim the screw mount holes just a hair over in the chassis. So if your servo is within the dimensions of this one it should work. The only dimension that would potentially be a problem really is the width side to side. You might need to buy the hitec mounts or make your own out os some plastic also. The ae one probably won't work for ya. Or if it's even a little bigger ya might just be able to shoe goo it down. I love the shit out of this 18T man. Can't believe how fast it is with a stock motor!

I just put a lrp quantum 2 in the truck. The stock speedo really has identical performance plus reverse. The qc2 seems to have a bit better brakes though.
Finally got things mounted how I like too. I put the speedo on the top plate, direct wired to the motor and a mini deans on the batt wires. The rx I mounted right on top of the servo. Seems to be a better configuration this way and more user friendly. If I get some time this summer I may make my own chassis out of some CF sheet. Should be pretty neat, and not to difficult. We'll see.

My dx3r and older spek rx (3000 I think it is) works great on the truck. I have no problems with it starting right up and binding together. This was with the stock speedo, so no problems with my spek stuff working in the truck.

Does anybody have any problems with the hitech hs 65 mg, kind of wigging out now and then? Like the motor is just spinning around really fast and the wheels are locked? It just does it now and then, and all it takes is wiggling the steering wheel to get it to unlock and work properly. Works excellent besides that.

So what are some good tires you guys recommend? I was wondering about th adapters and then going touring car tires but I don't really see the point of that. So I was figuring just some road type tires off flea bay for hard surfaces, but what's a good lasting dirt tire? And can you get different foams for the tires or anything? Just curious what guys do with theirs.

The HS65Mg is not a direct fit servo (as you know) so it's important when modifying things to get the servo to fit that you have everything lined up as it should be. Also check for binding in the steering knuckles if the kingpins are over tightened they will cause the steering knuckles to bind up. If all that stuff is okay then you likely have a junk servo. I mean Hitec makes these by the groves for a dollar a dozen, so as you can imagine getting a junk one isn't that uncommon.

It's all fit nicely and no kinks. I found that everything works much more freely if you put a 1/16" spacer underneath the servo. Until I did that everything had just a hair of a bind on it. It works good, just wiggs once in awhile. Guess I will have to give hitec a call and see what they say.

Set the gear mesh properly and that problem will go away.

+1

Chances are your mesh is too loose. If this is the case then I'm surprised the spur gear is lasting 30 min . There should be just a tick of play between the pinion and spur, any more and you'll eventually strip the teeth off the pinion any less and you'll likely burn the motor up.

The easiest way to check the feel of the gear mesh is to take the spur gear cover off, then you can rock the spur back and forth to check the mesh.

Wink thanks

thanks for the tips.I have never striped pinions because they are steel but have broken the motor shaft twice.I think it might be to tight.i was also wondering if there are any other places to race in ohio. I currently race at tri-state raceway.

Ya think!?!

Yeah if you hit the trigger and the car just lunges forward and falls flat on its nose as soon as you take your finger off the trigger it's probably just a bit too tight

Smile 18t tip

Hi I have a tip for all 18t racers the axle pin or drive pin can bend or be easly lost and then be difficult to remove instead you can take a small.050 allen wrench and cut it to the proper lengths they dont bend and are easily made.
