Plus, having shocks upside down messes up how it is supposed to function. Air rises to the top. If the shock is upside down it will sit where any air will reside. I can tell you that the most important time of the shocks function is the beginning. If there is air there it will not have the proper dampening. I hope this helps!!

if u build your shocks properly andmake sure the orings are not damaged and maintain your shocks no air will develope because they cant leak AND if they dont leave no air will be in the shock to rise....

i know wat u mean and if you give it a proper think over you will see i have a point.

I will be getting a 2nd hand RC18T soon with already a heap of hopups and spares.

I just wanted to ask a few things.

1. is the aluminium heatsink motor mount thing necessary, does it serve a real purpose? cause I know on my 10th scale drifter than theres no point having a motor heatsink unless its got a fan.
2. is it worth getting a Ti screw set?
3. is there a cheaper alternitive to keep the spur and pinion area free from dust/dirt besides the Driven Productions one.
4. which BL setup is better; Quark Pro-Car 33a Brushless Speed Control + Hacker E30-13L Brushless Motor OR Mamba-25 and CM2054 Competition Motor (5400kv) keeping in mind that this is going to just be the ultimate basher, no racing or speed runs etc or anything, just pure dirt pig and jump whore.
5. and if I was to go Lipo which would you guys recommend? prefer 2S

Thanks.

I'm running the same motor setup in my 18R. I race mine on an outdoor road coarse so I stayed with the stock 14T pinion. I may change to a 15T, but stock works great.
Are you racing yours, or just going fast and bashing..

Yes the mamba 25 will work with the 3s lipo pack. Just make sure to program it for the 3 cell lipo cutoff. Better yet get the castle link and program the automatic lipo to detect 2 or 3 cell. Like that you can switch to 2 cell or 3 cell without going back to reprogram the esc manually.

Ahh ok thanks.

Also wanted to ask if going 1800mah 3S lipo is overkill for just bashing/jumping (I want it to be able to get some wicked air time)? Or should I just opt for the 1200mah 2S?

What speed/power difference and I looking at with running those 2 lipos with a mamba 5400?

Thanks.

the BEST for dirt.....u mash the trigger n u just see the wheels donut on the spot with 13/51 gearing....n then it takes off like a rocket..

3s lipos are fine with the mambas.....4s is a no no eehehehhe

Hi all, this is my first post here but I have been reading on and off for some time and really appreciate all the great info and advice give on this board. I sold off all my R/C gear about 6 years ago so I am a little behind with all the near tech floating around so I was hoping for some advice.

I have an 18B RTR that was sitting around for a few months and I finally unpacked it and gave it a try. It is my first 1/18th and first AWD. I had a blast with it out bashing around in my yard and street. Though I am not to fond of the RTR gear so I ran out to the local hobby shop today.

I picked up a FT 18T and a Futaba 2PH since they gave me a decent price on it but they didn’t stock much of the other gear I am looking for. I talked to one of the guys there who owns a few 1/18th cars. He recommended the Hitech HS-56HB servo and since it wasn’t too expensive I also picked it up.

I plan to place an order with BPP for a Mamba 6800 combo plus the programmer for the ESC and a Duratrax ICE charger. I also want to get some High end LiPo and NiMh packs but I have no idea where to look and what brand/model to buy. As far as I know I am also going to need a balancer for the LoPo packs but again I have no idea what one to get.

I am building this FT 18T for parking lot bashing so I am going to need to find a place to get wheel adapters and a good set of wheels and tires. For cost reasons I would prefer to order from as few places as possible. If I can get some of the other recommended gear such as the MIP setups and other spare parts along with the things I need to get this truck up and running that would be great and sorry about the long post.

the FT kit will be good.....just shim the diffs up properly and wheel adapters can be bought from thetoyz.com i think and email BPP with what they recommend for the 18t

i personally just got my wraith from bpp and its GREAT....bit bigger than other BL motors such as the mamba n stuff but its WAY better and i get 30min runtime with 13/55 gearing

I looked at the wraith but it seems to be out of stock right now. So I thought I would just go with the 6800 for now. I am sure I will end up with 3 or 4 1/18th cars with in the next few months. I am already looking at the M18 pro. Spare parts, motors and so on will not go to waste. I will email BPP about my planed setup and see when the 7k will be back in stock.

Thanks
