I was reading the review on XRC and they said they had a little problem with dirt/debris getting into the spur gear. Is this a major problem and does it happen to you. Are there any weak parts on the kit
Overall its a very tough and fun little truck! But dirt does get into the spur easily. They make covers for it and they make delrin and aluminum spurs though. The steering assembly isn't the best but can be fixed rather easily with some AM parts.
Put in a Mamba and they're FAST!

it is a tough truck....i havnt had any problems with dirt getting in the spurs and at one stage my whole truck was brown from running in flour-fine dirt..wat u do is chop the little nib in the gearbox which prevents u from installing diffs the wrong way and install the diffs the opposite way from wat theyre suppose to be and reverse the motor polarity....this makes the dirt escape and flung out......
the steering is not as bad as ppl think it is........
also if u are interested i am selling my rc18....confirmed at 117kph/72mph with brushless..........pm for more info and piks if u are interested

Cheers
I use black electric tape to cover the pinion and spur.
Greetings, just getting back into the rc world. I bought my son an RC18T to race. I don't have it in my hands yet but was wondering what sizes of allens I will need ?? I saw that MIP released the Thorp ball drivers again and I wanted to start buying the sizes I need to do all of the work on this truck. Also any other things needed to update immediately or just replace/upgrade as needed?? I wish they had these when I got started, I remember my Hornet and HiTec Challenger radio, cost more than this entire RTR kit!!!

thanks my rc18t thats up for sale.....4mph away from top record speed and must go.....i need a 1/5 scale.....tis the only thing i cant find parts for online so icant mod it so i save money lol
its gona be goin alot more than 117 cause i just ordered a 19tooth pinion! thats a massive jump from 15
lol i wonder how fast that would be with the new 19t pinion and maybe some "super nitro rs4" wheels on it......i wonder if that will do any good being that the wheels are bigger than regular TC wheels...
ok a 19t pinion,51 and 55 tooth spur gears are on their way.....the 55 is gona be a spare n im gona use the 51 with 19 pinion.......also gona change my esc to an aircraft esc and run a 4cell lipo with the 8000kv.......
HELP ME IM GOING INSANE
if its like a standard size servo u gotta drill it out with a 5 or 5.5 mm drill bit and press it onto the spline and heat it up....thats wat i did with my jr nes 375 and i cracked the casing on that so i put a standard size jr nes 577
Has anybody mounted a late model body to an rc18t?? I bought one and was ready to start mounting it and suddenly realized that the tiny mounting posts on the stock shock towers were way too short, and I can't find an aftermarket mounting kit. I really hate to break out a Dremel and start jury rigging something up, but I may have to. Any help appreciated!
