Default thanks..

2-4 hours...hmmm....(unlikely for ME as I have a little obsessive compulsive streak in me.. )..more like 8 hours then..

~~~ i thought the kit had the teflon bearings so I didn't bother getting any upgrades for these...
looks like i have to find a way to get my hands on some asap...as in ASAP
i took your advice and had my local hobby shop get me a nes servo..that way I don't have to pay shipping..
btw --- PM me how much you're selling your mamba and b/l motor...I still might be able to fit it to my budget...
right now i just went with an LRP fusion motor...(tower hobbies)..
thanks...i'll bump and holler HELP if I'm stuck in the build..
brgds,
Hey guys couple of questions: I have a 18B factory team on the way. I bought a mamba 6800kv for it and I want to know what pinion I should use for the stock spur. (what does it come with). Also, what parts break the most on this thing? I heard about the diffs being weak, but what about the other stuff or is it pretty rugged??
your factory team kit should come with both a 55t and a 60t spur. it all depends what you want to do with it..... for playing around on streets / high speed try 13 or 14t pinion on the 55t spur.
for dirt and lower speed with insane power try 10 or 11t pinion on a 60t spur.
this is all assuming that the 6800 runs similar to my 8000 which I think it will.
as far as the diffs being weak.... i find that the outdrives are crappy... if you ever lose the blue sleeves, they will just flex open and dump your dogbones or snap. the fix: MIP super diffs (basically just stronger outdrives, tensioner spring, and nut) also be very carefull tightening your diffs when you assemble them... the tensioner bolt will strip the outdrive very easily.
another great buy for the truck is the Driven Productions drag link, and the gear cover if you plan to run it in any sort of dirt.
the diffs are quite of a problem.....pik up an extra set of shims and asoon as u start to hear clicking install an extra shim on each diff.....temp fix.
the alloy blue ballstuds strip aswell as the hex on the diff bolt
install the shocks upside down if u want so they dont leak asoon as u hit the dirt
im using 14/60t gearing atm with 5400kv and 3 cell lipo, not that bad ....i was also running 15/55 with 5400kv and 4 cell lipo.....the thing was lifting off the ground!
it makes me giggle every time i see a mamba rc18 fly by on the street with tall gearing... sickness unfortunately for the winter i am racing my 18t on a tight carpet track with stock motors cant wait to bust out the mamba in spring.
Ok, theres an answer. Proudsavageowner-I run dirt nitro offroad but picked up an RC18T to keep driving skills honed over the winter. Question-my 18t has just developed this clicking sound you mention. What is the permanent fix for this?
I dont want to invest a fortune in this truck but would like some good upgrades for carpet racing. Do these sound like good ideas for doing so?
1. Lower truck-what oils do you run?
2. Foam tires
3. upgrade steering link
What about adjustable shocks and upgrading the battery?
1. What kind of carpet racing are you going to run? Flat or offroad? If flat then run something heavy like 80wt in the front and 35wt or 40 wt in the rears. If offroad then use something around the 35wt in the fronts and 40wt in the rears.
2. I like the Parma/PSE foams. I run the purples up front and pinks on the rear. The AE foams are too though.
3. Use the DP draglink. No others work as well.
As far as batteries go... I realy like the Intellect 1400mah batteries.
Don't flip the shocks upside down if you are going to be carpet racing. That's an easy fix if you are going to be useing the truck only for bashing. But for carpet racing, flipping the shocks upside down adds the extra weight and mass of the shocks body to the control arms. This extra mass as a result hinders the shocks ability to dampen the control arms movement.
Click on my sig for a closer look into my carpet racing setups and a real fix for leaking RC18 shocks.
i dont agree with you on that one...
i made my own drag link out of 2 mini t oil shock rod ends and a turnbuckles n a couple of nuts n bolts and it works a million times better....and i doubt it can snap cause its high tensile steel and the ball cups will not come off
also the clicking sound starts to come from the diffs......the gears are wearing in and the bearings are getting worn out......try get some rubber sealedbearing for the diffs.....well pretty much all round....metal sheilded SUCKS and i needa replace bearings already
wen u start to hear clicking add in another shim to the diff ..... may feel tight at first but itll wear itself in..speaking of which i gotta do this to my rear diff now.....
and if your running on low traction surface and using stock electrics and like a 6 or 7 cell the diffs will probably last forever , this will happen if your running high power through it.....eg mamba with 3 cell lipo and 5400kv with low gearing and tall gearing.......and foam tyres
thats about it........
if ya interested in one of those draglinks i made pm me and we can sort somthing out
