Default 6000mah pack

Quick question about this pack

I got this pack about sometime in may of 08, and now it's registering just a hair over 5300mah. Is this normal?

I guess I don't understand what your asking. Are you saying that it only takes in that amount when you charge it?

What I am saying is: it takes a full charge properly and cells are balanced via the blinky balancer. When I do a discharge on the ICE at 6.0amps, it reports 53xx mah as discharged.

i can do a discharge to charge test and report then numbers from that.

Ok. But why are you doing a discharge? And the capacity will vary depending on where your charger cuts off at. If you discharge at 1 amp it show you a different number as well.

sorry for the delay, I got caught up in other things.

5319mah charge is what I get from the ice.

I do a discharge test to give me a ballpark estimate on how long the battery will last on a given charge, and I also discharge it for a single cycle. I also discharge all my batteries at 1C

your 2000mah mini-t pack I bought about a week ago was pretty impressive. 2100mah discharge at 5C.

Discharging the pack at 1C won't give you a very accurate run time base. You car will pull far more amps than 1 C and you'll in fact be seeing less run time. How are you storing this pack when not in use?

charged up to 50% of rated capacity with the blinky balancer and stored in the fridge.

Well that could be part of your problem. Your not supposed to store Li-Po's in the fridge. They are to be stored at room temp at 60% of their rated capacity. Storing packs in really cool temps can hurt the cells the cooler a cell gets the lower the capacity. Your wrecking your packs. And no where on our site do we say to store them in the fridge.

huh. Before I got the first lipo I read that keeping them in the fridge reduces their self-discharge and prolongs their life.

No it has proven not to be good for them. Hence the reason you don't see storing them in the fridge on our Li-Po care page.

Try waiting until they're at room temperature before you discharge and charge them...

Yes very old info. I can remember that being brought up almost 2 yrs ago and it was proven back then not to be good.

That's what I do all the time. even when I prep them for storage. balance charge first, full balance discharge second and half capacity balance charge third. Done at room temp.

So, do I still qualify for warranty? I did buy the 3 year warranty.

I just need to know where we go from here.
