celt: The easiest to attend from our area is the Novak race each January in Milwaukee. You should give it a shot next year!

Oh ya, novak is a 12th scale race too, lol, i thought it was just sedans. I plan on selling my losi to race 12th scale full out next winter.

novak is a sedan only race...no 12th....
#20
okay, thats what i first thought. Thats the downside of selling my sedan to go fully into 12th scale, no big races.

Yea, I wasn't saying to hit the Novak for 12th, just to check it out because it's a slick event and a good first "big" one to attend.

Yea, I just got my new L3 together. SS5800 Brushless fits pretty good. Got a six cell pack made up for it. WooHooo! Can you say broken frame?

6 cell brushless? That could be scary on the MARCCA track.
I have my new YRX-12 put together but I need to add electronics, and I have no body. I'm going to try to run it tonight but I may not get it all together and done in time... we'll see.

futureal, GordonFreeman:
Last week while in California, I saw 18 (6 people in each heat, and 9 people on the mains) people running 4 cell Brushless systems. They ranged from Novak, to Hacker, to Shulze brushless system. Most used a separate receiver pack to speed up their servo response. But the guy that won every single time, was the guy that had the Novak brushless running the 4300 system with only 4 cells powering the whole system (no receiver pack).
It was awesome, they all stayed pretty close for the whole 8 minutes. I was amazed how fast and sturdy those 12th scale cars are, They actually blew by the touring car lap times with no problem. They were running an average of 3 to 4 more laps in 5 minutes than the mod foam touring cars.
Hey futureal, didn't you get a Trinity car, but now you have a Yokomo?. Was the trinity that bad that you had to change that quick?; explain as I would like to know if there is something wrong with the car.
DRT.

Yea, 4 cells is all you need with a car that light, and the 4300 Novak system should be plenty. It has plenty of torque and that's all you need to get the cars moving.
There's nothing at all wrong with the Trinity car, other than it's more difficult to find parts for. I decided I wanted go with an AE-based car since there are plenty of parts available for it, especially the front end bits. The Trinity car won Snowbirds and TQ'd the ROAR Nats in stock, so there's certainly nothing wrong with it! I used the stock setup on mine and it worked well, just had to tweak a few things. I haven't hit the track with my Yokomo yet, that will hopefully happen this Saturday at RSJ.
What track were they running all the 12th scale at?

I am going to get in on the 1/12th action
I saw them race at the Carpet Challenge and was impressed with the stupid speeds they get and how stupidly simple they are. (exssentially a CF brace to hold some wheels onto the motor and batteries)
Looks like a good bit of fun. After the nitro season is over I will prolly go and pick one up.
Just hope theres a place to run em locally in a class, cause I am not about to drive to Milwaukee to practice and race (gas prices and what not)

I'm sure they will be running at marcca for a long time to come. We had some great racing with them at the Carpet Challenge, after figuring out all my problems I drove a couple ultra-clean runs but Vang just out-motored the rest of us. I might have been able to hold on to the lead if my radio batteries hadn't died off at the 6 minute mark in the main, but we still had a good battle.
There are at least 7-8 guys who are already racing their 1/12th cars and at least a few more who have picked them up, so I don't see the class dying any time soon. With new carpet next year it will be even better.

So are we (1/12 scale) going down to Trackside Tuesday the 18th?
