You like half life I assume? I play counter-strike
Anyways, the pvc tires were mainly used outdoors with great results, so maybe I could make some pvc tires w/ wheels (like buy used ones in bulk, or cheap ones) then put em together and sell em for $10-$15 for a set of four. Profits would be awesome!

Half-Life..what's that? Just kiddin. Haven't played CS for awhile, love that too. Can't wait for HL2
Also, I would check with the board before you go hog wild with the PVC. I don't think it would matter for this carpet, but they might not like such a hard "tire" when we get new carpet.

mmm good point. Im not gonna "market it" next week. Ill just see how it runs first. If it sucks Ill just use it outside, maybe market it for outside use.

Why not just make everybody run a set of Sorex 40s or something similar instead of masking tape? The effect will be the same and the tires will never wear out... plus then it's easy to make sure everybody is running the same thing.

I'm kinda new to sedans, What are Sorexs?
Somebody mentioned using a hard rubber tire at the track today. Then he drove my car and couldn't believe how slippery it was. We are talking friction coefficiant of .05 I bet.
I would like to see a bit more traction, but it needs to be different enough from the other classes, I think.
We will have to get a video of it because it is slow and slippery. Pics don't nearly show the drifting effect.

Sorex is just a brand of tire, they have them at R/C Performance. The compound refers to how soft it is, so Sorex 20s are soft, Sorex 36 or 40 is hard. I am pretty sure that with 36s or 40s on your car, you'll get all the drift you could ever want (and unlike masking tape or whatever else, there is no chance that you'd be damaging the carpet then).

Wish I could say that looked fun.

Yeah I had some troubles capturing video of drifts. Since I also had to marshall at the same time .
I will try to get some good footage in the future.
For some more help on drifting http://www.rcd.zip.to/ . Thats the best site I know. I might try that setup for the tires. I heard that OLD tamiya tires that came with the kits work great.
Lets find someone who has some old hard tires! Maybe there is a way to "harden" crappy tires up?
Maybe we should just wait for the yokomo drift tires to come out

WOW! Drift cars with drift tires! Damn! Sweet! Tight! OK, how do we get them? That looks like the ticket. It looks like you can dial your traction level with the rings maybe? Hey, at least now I know I'm not the only nutty one, if Yokomo is actually making Drift cars.
From the video on thier site, they have more traction than our masking tape class. It looks just about perfect. Major sliding, but still good control.
This is what is all about:

Ive always been into drifting and Rally Racing (check out speed channel sometimes) . I know some guys (msn instant messanger) that live in thailand who actually made that site about the pvc tires. They might be able to help a bit.
Oh yeah, futureal, its much more fun in person!
Someone posted that on a drifting forum. I might try to simulate the yokomo drift tires using pvc "rings" and dremel up some tire, using CA glue to reinforce it all.
I need to get a hold of some pvc first....
Front one ways may also help drifting, as they simulate a "handbrake". Maybe the rear wheel braking will help get more controlled drifts.

Anyways, Yokomo are bringing out a drifting kit! It's all in the tyres they use for the kit. It's really hard ABS type plastic (super glue pvc pipe to unwanted rims and you'll get the same effect).
