For the benefit of our RC brothers affected by the recent floods brought about by Ondoy!
Hi all!!!
I have already spoken with Action Hobbies and we have reached an agreement to help out our dear friends.
Given the scheduled HPI Challenge Race Series the next few weeks (which has actually already been delayed due to the postponement last Saturday), we will integrate the fund raising with the first leg of the series this coming Saturday, Oct. 3, 2009!
Hence, the HPI Challenge will continue as scheduled BUT, the race fee will be brought up to P1,000 for your first entry from the original P450 fee. The balance P550 from each entry fee will be collected and given to the affected racers (2nd entry will remain at P150). Yes, it's pricey for a race but it's for a good cause .... so we can help our drastically affected friends in our own little way.
These are namely: Mitch Sy - San Juan; Entire first floor and garage (including car). Staying with brother and currently trying to fix back his home sifting through the damages. Christian Saplala - Marikina, Entire house submerged (including car). Out of harms way but extensive damages incurred. Ronchie Garcia - Valenzuela, first floor submerged. Was stranded in Pasig during the floods and has yet to get to his house as it is inaccessible. Taking refuge at his office in the meantime.
And it does not end there, we are also setting up a donation box on site during race day to allow others to also give beyond what is collected from the race fees.
Hope everyone can make it to the race on Saturday. Please spread the word to our fellow racers via text, email, etc ...
THANKS TO EVERYONE IN ADVANCE!
Hi All!
To give everyone an opportunity to take part in this fund raiser and help out our friends in need, there will be an additional Open Stock Class (13.5BL/23T stock) as well that will be run on this Saturday's Race. This means no need for Spec Solaris Tires in this class. So we encourage all other on road touring car racers who for one reason or another are unable to join the official HPI classes, to join this open class instead.
Race fee for this class will be P550, since this is effectively what the racers joining the HPI Classes will also be contributing (P1,000 less P450 orig race fee = P550). So more reason to join and take part in this worthy cause.
Please spread the word and encourage people to log on and post at the Electric On-Road Thread so we can hear from everyone and show their support for our fellow racers!

Ok everybody! It's back! Open Class Club Races will start again starting this Saturday - November 14!
IT'S TIME TO HAVE SOME SERIOUS FUN!!!
To make things really exciting and to give everyone somthing to look forward to we will have the following new things in place:
1) BRAND NEW LAYOUT!!! - in case you haven't noticed, it's the one in the annoucement banner above! We have already made the changes to the track last Saturday evening so everyone is welcome to try it out now at JP Raceway.
The layout was made with more corners but still maintaing great track flow and a good sequence of chicanes, hairpins and switchbacks to ensure we'll get even better races with more sections for dicing and exciting action.... as we were laying it out last Saturday, we were already excited to start running it and imagining the kind of racing we will have with it. It's sure to be a fun layout to run on. (note: we will still run it clockwise)
SIMPLY PUT, ITS LIKE HAVING A NEW AND FRESH TRACK ONCE AGAIN! YAHOOOO!!!
2) NEW WEIGHT LIMIT!!! - Given the constant focus on making racing better and also staying in tune with changes in the RC World, we will start to lower the weight limits in the club races. As you all know, with the acceptance/sacntioning of LiPO by the major governing RC bodies (ie. IFMAR, ROAR, etc), TC weight limits have also started to go down. For the Worlds next year, IFMAR is looking at a 1350gram limit, ROAR is going to around 1420grams, EFRA is still deliberating but it should be in that ballpark as well. Locally we are going with 1420grams for starters. Going way down to 1350grams may post issues for many racers as a) it will be hard to get the weight down that low without spending on numerous lighweight components, and b) weight balance and distribution will be difficult for most as majority of the cars in the market now (with the exception of the Losi) and what most local guys are running are not yet optimized for LiPo. Most conventional cars have their electronics to the left of the car and a very light LiPo pack to the right which will throw off or car's balance (this is actually the topic in one of the international threads).
So, since we also want to get the benefits of running lighter cars, we are going mid way as this likely the best step - so for now it's 1420grams. Now, being a club race, of course we will not be strict with this. You can still run your car as heavy or as light as you please. But as we always say, the club races are the best place to get your car dialed in so its a good venue to start playing around with your car's balance, etc.
In the end, the lowered weight will be a great benefit beause a lighter car will 1)REDUCE TIRE WEAR - tires will last longer and perform better, and 2) REDUCE STRAIN ON ELECTRONICS - Less aggresive gearing, esc settings, etc = less heat, longer lasting motors and electronics.
Remember its club racing so this is where will start out with the new things (just like how we introduced 13.5 into the stock class). So lets adjust to this and have fun at the same time.
RACE FORMAT: - we will have our usual race format once again. So it's back to two 5min qualifying rounds with the your best run seeding you in the mains.
Race Classes (Open):
Super Stock 13.5
Open Modified
Any brand 190mm/4wd/TC chassis, tires, rims, 4-door sedan/TC body allowed!
We need 4 racers in a class to make a quorum. Kung konti mag mod, sama sama tayong lahat sa 13.5! (ako sa 13.5 ako! kayo? hehehe)
