Nakita ko maganda na pala track ng ps1 and I saw tomi drifting a tlo1 with his pvc drift tires. Not bad at all. Napabili tuloy ako ng pvc tires nya even though I'm not a drifter. Might as well try it on my old kit. Im just missing a mabuchi for my potential tlo1 drifter. Hehe.
For you drifters http://tamiya.com/japan/products/493...rift/index.htm
Ganda nyang ta03...kaya lang japanese market only ata eh.
Big difference pala ang sport tuned to stock mabuchi
Kakabuo ko lang ng tt01 ko eh...still need a charger though and more batts. I only have 1 pack for now. See you at the tracks soon.
The TA03F Drift spec is nice but why did they have to still include the plastic shocks? Di ba nila pwede kabitan ng TRF shocks na? The problem with Tamiya kits; they make their consumers spend too much on hop-ups. Pwede naman nila isama as standard sa kits yung hop-ups. Why can't they just come up with a certain kit that has all the features of a fully hopped-up? People will buy it anyway, especially if it's a good kit.

Just my 2 cents...
The reason is there's a price bracket that hobbyist are willing to pay. Newbies are not recommended to start with a 20k kit when they have a tendency to break it more. They're better off buying a tao5 at 7k with all the basics, bearings, cva, etc than risking breaking a kit that suspension arms alone cost 600 a pair. Then if that person truly will stay in the hobby then they could buy the upward 17k kits, which is the trend now, and be an "rc racer ". I think seeing the drift guys with their tlo1,tt01 I dont see the need for a more expensive kit to use since they're doing fine.
hydro,
pabago-bago isip ng friend ko, sabi ko pasok na sya sa hobby. we visited speed zone last day and nagustuhan naman mag-nitro tapos pinapanood ko sakanya ung video ng SG-drifters, gusto naman magdrift ewan ko ba dun.
ok na PS1 ngayon. dati kasi ako pa nag-aayos ng mga pipes dun kasi wala sa ayos dati pagnaglalaro ako dun. he he he
TA03rs,
I'm still preparing din for Futaba cup. need one more 2400nicad stick pack. pag hindi baka tuloy ko na tong preparation if ever magka-RCD1 sa PS1.

Just my 2 yen.
I see... This is the reason why I opted for another brand such as HPI when I went back to RCing. I raced and owned a couple of Tamiya kits way back since the late 80s till the mid 90s when Off-road was more popular then. It gets so frustrating because they always have to release the best parts after most of the first stock kits are sold. I guess it's also part of their marketing strategy. With HPI, they include most hopped-up parts as standard. Out of the box, it's already race ready.

Welcome back to the hobby. I was running offroad in the 80's also. But the only track I ran in manila was beside the parking buiding in legazpi village in rada st. Not sure if there were other tracks in manila that time.
Definltely marketting is part of it. But its not only tamiya who has low end kits. In the US rtr kits are best sellers. Hpi, yokomo, losi, ae have cheap basic rtr kits. Tamiya is actually loosing sales over there. The xxx-s rtr was a very good deal and of course the tc4 rtr now.
But here, there's no day that I pass by lils and not see a newcomer buy a tt01. Its good for the hobby that kits like these are offered to potential long term hobbyist.

Thanks for the warm welcome. Hehehe. Anyway, there were a few Off-road tracks I ran my cars with friends during the late 80s to 90s around the Metro.
Namely:
Boyel in Marcos Hi-way Cainta
Violago Race track in E. Rodriguez, QC
Ateneo Race track in the Grade School department
BF Homes Paranaque Race Track near the main gate
The Boyel track was converted to On-road in the mid 90s. But the surface was concrete which ate up tires a lot faster than asphalt. The Ateneo track is the site of the grade school theater now. Violago tarck is now a commercial complex and the BF track was not maintained till tall grasses grew and it was forgotten.
I believe on-road racing is more challenging than off-road. It's more fun, exciting and serious too. This is where you experience real touring racing in a small scale. With off-road, you have to clean your car from mud and dirt before another run. You even have to disassemble so many parts that are unreachable by fingers just to clean them. Unlike On-road cars, compressor and paint brush lang, ok na. Takbo ulit.
Alala ko yan concrete track. Tao2 gamit ko dun walang grip. pangit tires dati. i revisited it around 2001 and it was still concrete ata.
Its too bad lils doesn't have an offroad track like the one in legazpi vill. The offroad tracks today are too far for casual hobbyists.
I like offroad and onroad equally. Just that onroad is the only thing accessible right now. Given the chance I would run offroad and onroad anytime.
