Marshalls will be provided but since this is a Fun Race, there will not be a trophy hand out ceremony.

The trackside canteen will be operational for your food and beverage needs.

Christmas Tree Final format (subject to change depending on total number of registrants)

'Sunday Madness' 1/8 GP Buggy Fun Race | Race Report

The day started on a good note, with the sun out in all its glory, dimmed by partially cloudy skies. After weeks of unceasing rains and countless lost weekends, probably spent at home or at shopping malls our local 1/8 GP Buggy enthusiasts young and old, arrived visibly brimming with anxiousness to get the 'show on the road".

A total of 35 drivers registered for the race with 34 drivers turning up. Despite the hopes of running an odd/even mains instead of the regular single tree format, the number of drivers dictated that pragmatism was the order of the day. The day began with the drivers divided into 4 qualifying groups running three 10 minute Qualifying Heats each.

Where at the end of it, the sorting for the Finals was based on each driver's best two out of three Qualifying Heat runs, based on a fair Qualifying Points system.

The top five drivers were bumped up to the next Main Final round.

The Top Qualifier (TQ) went to Felix Tan with his JQ THE Car. Clocking consistent fast laps around the high speed layout.

By the end of the day, after an hour long place swapping (which rarely occurs often in A Main Finals), newly crowned 1/8 GP Buggy Malaysia National League (MNL) 2011 Intermediate Champion, Alan Chong aptly demonstrated that Fun Races are the best testing grounds to hone one's talents and clear the cobwebs from the fingers after weeks of bad weather which prevents any outdoor activity.

Despite the constant swapping of race lead positions, Alan Chong's patience in trailing the leading pack paid off when he took the victory home after Malaysia's veteran FEMCA 2011 A Main finalist and most recently Malaysia's 8 hours endurance winning team driver, Chan Kim Hoi's unstoppable lead came to an end when his buggy suffered mechanical issues that left him out of the contention. Kenneth Loh who also stuck with the leading pack took the runner up position.

The race's TQ, Felix Tan's drive is notworthy especially since he started leading the race and despite not one, but two issues that left him off track for quite some time, he managed to put it together to clock consistent and unrelentingly fast lap times to see him eventually finish third overall.

Congratulations to everyone who attended the meet, we trust everyone had a good time and look forward to meeting everyone again in a couple of weeks when we play host to Round Two of the 1/8 GP Buggy MNL 2012 on 14 and 15 April 2012 at the RCC Off Road Track.

The first 2 heats for me were a bit frustrating since i had some mechanical problems and coudnt even start the 3rd heat. In the end i managed to get the car running again and i finished in the C-Main final. Frustrated at first but in the end i managed to have fun and gain some experience. I learned a lot in terms of car handling, car weak spots and being a better driver/mechanic. Thanks
