Default battery NiMH 4600 or 4700

Hi,

My name is bigster and i am new to this forum. I saw 2 NiMH batts that day at Nam Lee Atria. One was 4600mAh and the other one was 4700mAh. Which one is better to use? Because my friend said it is better to take the 4600 even it has lower amp but the durability of this batt is a lot better than the 4700. Is it true? Please advise.

Regards,

Bigster

The other battery gives you 100mAH extra, which is not much of a difference except extra minimal runtime. That is if you compare the price margin. If the price is much expensive to me I go for 4600mAH.

Hi All,

Thanks for the useful replies. But many of my friends said that 4600 punches more than 4700. is that true?

Hi Sundhar93,

What do you mean by 4600 is lighter ya? is it the battery weight, or the car punches really lightly when using 460o batt?

Depending on the brand of the battery.... get something thats is already proven on the track... ask around... EP4600 and IB4600 are the ok ones...

Want better? Get the SMC EnerG4600.... but check out the crazy price...

I have been using Intellect all the while. Their batteries are prone to expand, overheat & explode. Many people I knew had similar problems. Besides that it won't hold charge for long. You must run it immediately. If keep longer the battery lose punch & runtime.

Sad to say I already lose 3 of such packs.

Thanks TPG Racer,

Actually i just bought the EP4600. i had some doubts on it since it is a China made battery. but after using it is really powerful and furthermore you have recommended it to me. I am now have more confidence in EP batteries. But the EnerG brand i haven't seen it around though. Which shops are selling this?

Bigster

Hey Bigster you do know who am I right? EP or East Power cells was the cell to get once upon a time ago when the IB or Intellect batteries was having a hell lot of problems.... but now since most of the Nimh cells became much more stable, there seems to be more choices out there even some brands that not many of us hear about...

EnerG cells actually came from a collaboration between two top battery matchers, Promatch and SMC.... this EnerG cell was popular between the top racers in the world for its punch, power and durability although there were some cases of dead cells which these days is actually pretty normal considering battery manufacturers cramping more and more power in these tiny sub-C batteries.....

Thats why more and more people are switching to Lipos as they are much easier to maintain but there were some talks between racers themselves that said Lipos have not reach the "ooommmpph" level that Nimh can produce... but this is subjective as there were mixed response or opinion on this...

All in all, your EP4600 cells should last you quite sometime before it needs replacing... so enjoy the punch and power while it last...

I think you should choose lipo, higher voltage means faster, even 0.2v, in addition, lipo is lighter than normal battery...

This is not necessarily the case... once charged, Nimh can have higher voltage compared to Lipos... the only difference between Lipos and Nimh is the power curve... Lipos would appear to be more consistent throughout the run while Nimh would appear punchy and strong in the early run and slowly fade in power....

In terms of weight, for racing purpose every car has to be mininum 1500g so it makes no difference being light or heavier coz eventually everyone has to balance their car up to the mininum weight....
