Default Questions about GT power V5 balance charger

I just got this 2nd hand charger and no manual... and i have a few questions that i hope the OTAIs here can help answer..

1. There is a option to CUTOFF CAPACITY and I can set anywhere from 0 to 5000mAh. What is this for? Is it that if I charge a 4600 batt i set it to 4600? and if i charge a 3000 batt i set it to 3000?

2. What amp to charge a battery? a 3000 batt, 4600 batt and 4700 batt? can I use 4amp? what amp is better?

3. I notice on the display there is a volt reading. The longer i charge the higher the volt goes.... i assume that this is the volt meter for the battery currently being charged... but what is the max charge voltage? cos i see it as 9.2v sometimes 9.3v...

Need your help in answering these questions.. thank you

Answer

1) Yup. Let say you don't want it to charge your battery beyond 4600mah, you set it at 4600. And since it doesn't have the "model/memory" feature, you gonna set it to 3000 when you wanna charge a 3000mah battery, cannot just simply switch to another model.

2) You can charge a 3000mah battery at 3amp/3000mah. You can charge it at lesser or higher amp/mah as well. To higher amp you give beyond the battery capacity rating, the more punch the battery gets, the faster you kill the battery.

3) Yup. The voltage will goes up, beyond the rated but that's normal. And voltage helps the charger to determine when it is fully charged.

And this is a very good decent charger. Set and let it charge with no worry. And it takes care batteries well too.

Please correct me if there's errors.

Thank you. :-)

Hi,

Just wondering, does POWER rating play a factor in the charge/discharge process?

If a particular charger has a charging power of 50W, it means that the maximum current it can charge a 7.4V or 22.2V pack is;

Charge *typical sport charger at 50W
50W/7.4V=6.75A or
50W/22.2V=2.25A *can't charge more than 2.25A rate, although rated at 5A max

Discharge *typical sport charger at 5W
5W/7.4A=0.67A or
5W/7.4A=0.23A *couldn't discharge more than 0.23A rate, although rated at 1A max

Please correct me if I'm wrong. I myself am shopping for a charger

p/s: liquidular/liquidsnake, u MGS fan? hehehe
