yupp, to examine the glow plug and top of piston condition is one of my most trusted method to determine my tuning isn't way off. few others things u might consider to help get a more "optimal" tuning and performance are

- head shim thickness
- plug type
- nitro content
- clutch setting
- centax setting
- exhaust choices

** one thing i want in my tuning is there r lots of smoke at bottom to mid( lots of smoke but the car does not bog ) , and thin trail of smoke near the top.
