Ok, just found my Fall 1999 RC Touring cars mag. Start educating those who don't know!

Tire Circumference; (Tyre diameter)mm x 3.142 = Xmm

Transmission ratio
Dual Belt cars = devide the number of teeth on the diff pulley by the number of teeth on the layshaft pulley

Gearbox cars = devide the number of teeth on the diff gears by the number of teeth on the transmission's top gear (the internal gear that shares it's axle with the spur gear)

eg; 32 diff puley, 15 tooth pinion 32/15: 2.13

Now, Rollout formulae

(tyre circumference)/((spur/pinion) x (transmission Ratio)) = Rollout

Rollout = distance with each revolution of the motor's armature

Mod motors (below 13T)= Start with 25mm rollout
STock motors (3+ to 20T) = Start with 30mm rollout

Hope this helps ;p

Regards,
Aaron

Just a quick note. Informaton on gear ratios are almost irrelevent, partly because you don't calculate the output of the motor itself (torque curve, RPM at best efficiency, etc). ANd normally I'll just ignore the formulae to calculate the overall gear ratio. So probably you should just try trial and error, see which best suits the track or your driving style.

I'll update it again, since the transmission layout these days are different
