Hi HPC II,
Thanks for bringing the buggy and parts to Malaysia. I am seriously considering one. Here are some more links to this nice buggy.

Full bearings, slipper clutch, ball diffs, durable design... hmm, I might just end up getting one.

i saw the actual unit in Hobby Haven and it looks neat. really neat. came with lots of goodies such as chassis cover, lots of spurs, tires, unpainted bodyshell etc - most importantly, it's got clutch-slippers, quite a breakthrough for EP buggy! there are some coverage from US-based magazines and rc car action - from the country where buggies and truckies rule, in particular, gave it a rating of 7/10... no bad at all.

Hi Sim,

Great pics!!! Glad that you have chosen the SB V2. Some tips for you as did for my kit.

Upgrade the ball links to HPI ones. HPI has the hex screw on balls as well as matching ball ends. After upgrading mine, the ball movements are much much better. Also the steering bearings upgrade is worth to look at. Lastly, adjustable turnbuckles.

I will try to post some pics of my kit soon.

Cheers,

HPC II,
Thanks for the info. I'm going to be putting in the steering bearings later. Right now, the most friction is coming from the ball joints so that will be replaced immediately. I'll consider the HPI balls and rod ends in the future but now I've got a few spare RPM rod ends in my toolbox I might try to use up first. I've got some turnbuckles already and they're a little longer than the kit ones but seem to work okay. See you this weekend at MNC2

How much would a buggy like this cost?

Default More updates

My RPM rod ends (meant for the XXX-T) were too long and I'm not sure if they could be cut short enough because they're designed so the turnbuckles cannot be threaded too deeply into them. In the end, I got some HPI 4.3X23mm rod ends (part number A303) but kept the stock ball studs. This seems to work but still has a little play in them and seem to be quite easy to pop off.

If it becomes a real problem on the track, I will replace them with either Team Losi ones or Team Associated ones (test fitted already the ones from my XXX-T and from my TC3 and they don't snap off easily even though there's still a little play in each joint).

Also, the stock plastic shocks don't seem to be very good. The bottom cap is made of rubber and there's a lot of friction in the shocks before filling in the oil (from this rubber cap and the tight O-rings) and the little clip that holds the O-rings and spacers seems to rub against the shock shaft and lastly, the front shocks rod ends are the same tight ones in the suspension and steering links which bind against the 4.3mm ball studs. Replacing these was out of the question because the spring retainer doesn't sit well on the aftermarket rod ends I test-fitted (HPI, Losi, Associated).

Right now, the buggy is almost finished, I just need to cut and paint the body. I like how everything looks so far, but I better not say until I give it a drive around. Anyway, it wasn't an easy buggy to build. The instructions really could have been better and the rod ends really need replacing.

Finally finished building just in time for the MNC race this weekend.
