Yes, those were the good times. No matter where we raced, FL-racers tended to stick around a certain area. Needed a part ? - - if you were an FL-racer, you got the part w/o hesitation or question.
Proud moments of Finishline Racers:
1) When SlayDaddy took 3rd place in the 2000 On-Road Fuel ROAR Nats at TX Motorspeedway... and with a Traxxas 4Tec to boot!
2) Michael Parker - youngest A-Main TX-Biggie qualifier.
3) 1998 SWCS Conference Series = 4 of the top 10 were FL racers.
4) The race at Albertson's in Watagua, TX.
5) The FL race at TX Motorspeedway: 118 attendees!
Worst moments:
1) When it rained.
2) When FL faded away....
Good times don't last long but the memories will last a lifetime....
SORR folks - - you have RcKook. He was a part of the FL Management. He can provide guidance. Finishline didn't 'die'. It faded away because the core management had moved on to other things (careers and families). It was passed unto 'the next generation' (aka Turtledaga) but they didn't listen to what it would take to continue.
Running a track isn't easy and it isn't cheap. But with the right guidance and a good-amount of perseverance, it will work. Don't go into an RC track expecting it to sponsor a "big" ROAR event. Go into it expecting to create and/or cultivate a representative you can be proud of.
FL had folks coming in as far as Austin and Houston to race. SORR can do the same.
Good luck with the April 1st race.
The key is to have fun. SORR Management - don't expect to have time to fix/tweak your cars. Run the track. Love the hobby but not the racing. If you are in it to race, then don't manage. You'll end up hating the hobby.

JRS,
Yes, we had some good time at FL. It was probably some of the best competition in the metroplex. Many of us got to be better racers when facing some of the stiff competition at FL. The Watagua race was a blast, and wished we could have done it one more time. Loved the crowd that the race drew and listening to the little spectators fun bet on which car would win. But, it is good to hear from you and hope to see you somewhere, even as a spectator, soon.
