Sounds good, whats been your bigger classes? I'm considering a Truck, but haven't yet decided on electric or nitro. I looked at 1/8th but a bit too expensive for me. Also want to know what kind of scoring system your planning on using, are you guys hand counting, or some type of electronic timing. Just would like to know, so maybe I could talk some more of the locals into posibly running out there this year.
From KC - I-70 to Topeka and merge onto I-470 exit at south Topeka. Exit the toll booth via the ramp on the right to Topeka Blvd. Take Topeka Blvd south to 45th St. Take 45th east to Paulen Rd. Turn south on Paulen and take it to 69th St. Turn east on 69th St. and you will the track track and flying field.
Porter - I donated a laptop, counting software, and a printer to them last year. It hand counts the way it is now and is capable of transponder support with an upgrade. Bob bought a generator to run the computer equipment. I worked with Bill all last year on the track and no one showed up. Why all the interest all of a sudden, everyone? Or is this just talk again.
The regular racers out there are not seasoned organized racers like we are. They do not understand that they can't leave the drivers stand and walk out on the track while the race is in progress. If all break save one guy, that last guy will just pull off, even if the race is only a minute in. And marshalling..... And nothing against Bill, I think he's a cool guy, but not a knowledgeable/experienced race director. Gotta remember that it's still grassroots racing out there. I know it says ROAR rules, but there's gonna be some questionable stuff out there at some point.
Good luck. I'll try to get out there once or twice.

I am really wanting to do somthing local this year, I thought I could get away with travaling, to Hutch and KC, and just stick with onroad, but it's starting to get old , and quick.
Sorry I didn't help or show any interest last year, I had onroad fever or somthing. I realize now I just want to race, and would really rather be 10min from home instead of 2 hours.
I don't like going into Dee's to try and talk about the track with those fellas, because usually they act like they could care less about it, and the person talking about it.
I'm there for you this time around, if you stick with it
Ok guys you are a little behind, Yes, there is a PIT Lane, the track has been dozed and rebuilt Bigger and BAD'R, Lots of changes thanks to Bill Vine, and he is the one to contact not Robert so much. Robert ownes it but Bill runs it. We are working on a starting gate. the 1/8 buggy is the biggest class. We are racing by Roar rules this year, but not a Roar track. I need some competion this year in the buggies and unlimited monster trucks. Last year I was the one to beat. April 8,2006 is the start off with Nitro Shootout Trophy Race,
The best way I know of to get there is I70 to I470 to Topeka Blvd. South to 45th street and back East to Paulin Rd. South to the dead end and 1/2 mile east on the south side of the Rd. You can get there quicker on HWY40 but I dont know. I come in from Wamego, West of town.
As far as the going out there and fixing it off the stand, Bills point is not to stir the pot and keep as many people happy as possible and coming back because the numbers are so low. But this last year it impoved greatly and had 30 to 40 vehicals out there at the end of the year. Others and Me are coming 60 miles away to race. I know thats not much but it sure beats the 8-10 I was told used to be out there.
Now that it is increasing, our plan is to have cars removed from track and repaired in the pit lane, not on the track. It is coming around, I used to be sponcered in the late 80's in a Losi Chassis 2wd offroad so I know how the big races are ran. But we need drivers. The more drivers the better it will get. !!!
Bring It! Git-R-Done And have Fun!!

From what I saw when I went to the track the other day, it is better, not badder, but better. Jumps are still not shaped quite right and the layout for the whole north side of the track needs to be completed. Still lots of crumbleys and silt looking stuff. I'm tellin' ya, that silt is what's keeping MANY people away. I know I don't want to run on it.
Regardless, people CAN NOTjust walk out onto the track because the vehicle broke and they want to retrieve/fix it.
LOTS of work to do out there before long time racers will venture out there.

Did you see how Bad the world's track was last year at the IFMAR race, and you want to complain about a little dust. That track is smooth and yes it needs more work, I will shape the jumps next time I am out there. Bill is doing an awesome job! Have you ever built a track? I have built 2 with the zoning and everything. It is very hard work and he is NOT getting paid for it. DONT SEE YOU HELPING WITH IT!!!!! JUST COMPLAINTS@!! Sounds like you like that dustless indoor pretty boy racing electrics. NO Dirt, NO Nitro all over your car, Just Pretty Boy. You can drive to Hutch and KC, have fun. But a lot of us want to have something local, and it is growing in the right direction, it takes time, God didnt just make us overnight!
Perhaps you haven't been paying attention. You don't see me helping? I guess the laptop and the counting software and the printer and the tamps and all the time BILL AND TRAVER AND I spent last year building more jumps and TRYING to improve on the layout aren't YOUR idea of helping out huh? Don't come at me sideways. Bill is the one who didn't call me saying "HEY! GUESS WHAT!!......." and "we'll be working on the track on..." Bill and I have BOTH put a lot of effort into reviving racing in Topeka. So what have you done? You came out to race...and we thank you.
FYI - I have been VERY involved in racing AND building tracks in this town for 15 years. I've built a few more than 2 tracks. I tried to teach Bill what I know, and from what I saw the other day, it's starting to pay off.
So fine. Guess I'll just go get my stuff back since it's no help. "You Guys" can go get your own darn equipment. Did the laptop ever get used except when I was out there anyway?
Thanks. For nothing.

OK you were where? I seen you once, the first race I ran out there. Then I was there every Sat. helping shape the track and wetting it down and what ever was needed to be done and Never saw you at all in 3 1/2 months of racing. And Bill is building that track with some of the things I have showed him also and I was there during the building of the the jumps and banks and when a few more things get done I will be there to shape the jumps up. Alot of us have put a lot of money and time into rebuilding that track. And the first time I hear from you again is all complaints, why dont you say good job guys, keep up the work, give your oppinion on what stills needs some work in a civilized way.
Is this type of conversation doing anyone any good? Topeka and Lawrence racing has the potential for very large turnouts. Will it ever happen? Who knows...but it seems opinions run very strong and very vocal "out west".
Just show up, help, race, most of all buy some stuff. Dollars in the store should help with the advancement in support, and could make the difference in future competition. ~JC in KC.
Relax guys. If I were really wanting to do alot of offroad racing over there in T-town I would try to be more optimistic and help build and smooth the track. It would be frustrating if you know what needs to be done (I don't) and no one cares to listen. I can see both sides though - you both have your points.
Maybe if everyone would show up with a case of beer everyone would get along better. LOL j/k
