Default 2012 Timberline Raceway - Off Road and Oval

As many know who have been following on other forums, Timberline Raceway in Osawatomie, KS is almost ready to the 2012 season.

Offroad track schedule will be run on the first two Saturday nights of the month under the lights:

May 5th
May 12th

June 2nd
June 9th

July 7th Evapco Trophy Race

August 4th
August 11th (Possibility of Trophy Race MO/KAN?)

September 1st
September 8th

October 6th
October 13th SPOOKTAKULAR Trophy Race

Both tracks have sprinkler systems so traction on the dirt is not a issue.

We use AMB/RC Scoring Pro for lap counting
Have full concessions.
And hobby store onsite.
Pit tables for 75 people, Air, Electricity, and Lighting are at each table.
Drivers Stands will fit 12 racers at a time and are Handicap accessible.
Club Race fees are $15.00 for first entry and $10.00 per entry after that.
Trophy Race fees will be $25.00 per entry.

The off road track is 'friendly' to all scales and sizes of off road vehicles - from 1/10th through 1/8th and including 1/5th! Additional challenges have been added to the current track although the elevation changes remain the same. And, a bit of test running today proved that the track is very good being run either direction!

Here are some pictures I shot with my phone today:

and here's a couple of minutes of Dave driving the Losi 5ive T!!!

Yes it is..... and everything is aligning for an epic day of racing on Saturday!!!

The watering issue is solved - we got rain; track soaked and Lake Smreker is full!!!!

We're going to put the finishing touches on it tomorrow and should be ready to go on Saturday morning!!! Hoping to get some 'rolling' in tomorrow which will go a long way toward 'seasoning' the track!

Several 1/5th scales already comitted - both buggy and SC truck! NOTHING would make me happier than if a couple of 1/5th Losi trucks dropped in from points unknown....

Soooo, hopefully we'll see a good crop of electric and nitro racers too - I'm bringing my SCRT Losi and usually we have a good crop of 4 x 4 1/10th SC in addition to some 2 WD a bit everything else!

I think YOU should throw some stuff in your p/u and head that way!!!!!

It sure does look like fun. Someone let me take one of those 1/5 scale trucks out for a spin?

Chris, what time do they start racing?

That early and still running under the lights? I mean dont matter to me but I was thinking that was the whole reason behind running under the lights was to escape the mid day heat!?

One of the things that makes Timberline unique is that it operates under a Miami County KS conditional use permit; what this means is that racing HAS to be done by 9:00pm and 'lights out' by 9:30pm.... AND, since everyone pretty much has a drive, by the time you load up, say good by, discuss your main, discuss you're buddys main, stop for that late night snack that many of us 'fluffy boys' feel we need and unload your car when you get home - it's plenty late!

Since the exact turn out is never known until the bell sounds at 1:30pm (last call for sign ups) it's hard to predict when it will end; as a result the racing under the lights happens pretty much every event BUT it's not an entire event under the lights.... The sun sets pretty early because of the fact that the track is in a low area and between the trees and the hills to the West, lights are usually turned on around 7:00pm.

OH, and wait 'til you see the lights in action - they're truly the BEST that I have ever seen - and yup, I've seen one or two!

Don't forget, Timberline Raceway will be running June 2!!!! Track opens at 12:00noon, racing begins at 1:30pm and must be finished by 9:00pm

Looking forward to seeing racers with all scales - 1/10, 1/8 and 1/5!!!

Remember, Timberline is SHORT COURSE friendly - no giant jumps and everything on the track is 'makable' with every scale!

Hay Shawn, for an additional few weeks, Timberline is on TEMPORARY shut down due to the owner's work schedule (yup, it takes a really good, really busy 'real job' to support a race track!).....

Either Dave or I will post here and on Midwest RC when Dave's schedule allows some time to prep the track and get some racing going!

To answer your question, there are lots of permanent pit tables that are sized so that an easy up can cover them - so bring your easy up and you'll be good to go. There is electricity, a compressor and tire washing facilities available!

Hopefully this heat can break a bit and Dave's workload can get a bit more manageable and we can get back to racing! He's been a busy man - jumping from coast to middle to coast to NW to Midwest to..... let's just say he's got a LOT of flyer miles!
