We have fairly organized on-road parking lot racing in Manhattan already. Like Quinton said, Les and Gene (the guys that set all this up) have the PVC pipe and "rubbles" and they even clean the track with leaf blowers! It makes quite a difference. They even have an AMB system with transponders, a loop and laptop and a generator. Les said they will probably set it up this year. Fact is, there are so few people that show up and race, that there is not really a need for it. Drew and everyone else please do join us on Sundays at Hastings. We race everything, nitro, electric, on & off road, 1/8 scale, monsters, and minis, I even have a Wal-Mart R/C I'll run! We just need some people to show up with R/Cs!!! I just got off the phone with Les and he said there will be a flier up in the JC hobby store soon and that they plan to have their first race Sunday April 13th at Hastings. I can confirm the time and location a day or two before that. He also says it will be every other Sunday, but it could become every Sunday if enough people are coming out. Oh and props to Robin for going above and beyond for us.
Easy hoss, not all us racers are pricks, one track last year I have a really really bad experience, but every where else has been good every time I have been there. Wheither I am the fast guy or I get my butt handed to me, you always learn something and meet new racers. Its awesome to watch the Pro class at what a RC car will actually do in the right hands.
Nitro and dirt smell in the air, heaven, intenisity of pit stops, the roar of 10+ cars down the straight out of a gate, running side by side rubbing, undescribable, you just have to experience it. SWWWIINNNNGGGG!!!!!!!
Its also fun to help someone on their car and see the look on there face when their fustration is at wits end and you show them something little and ding!, all there fustration is gone. Good example is today a couple of guys where here racing in the backyard and I had him pull off 4 springs on the Savage and put on some LOSI truggy tires, whole new truck on the track, night and day.
Did KU win. Like they are going to be the first #1 to lose to a 16. We'll leave that honor to the Cats...if they can ever make a #1 seed.
Hey, we have to gloat when we get a chance, the CATS could lose the rest of the games, they beat KU this year at home for once, that one game was the whole season for a lot of people
I've haven't been to a GOOD offroad race before. I'd really like to check it out in T-town sometime but it's a long way to go just to watch.
In summary (LOL) I'm down to get together with anyone for some fun bashing! I just don't have the time or desire to put all kinds of effort into building and maintaining a track. So there's my whining and excuses.
Give me a call or email if any of you guys want to get together. I can usually get away from the house for a few hours.
