I have no off-road racing skills to brush up on! Hey Quinton, this is Eric, you always see me at Hastings. I think you even talked to me in my backyard at my house accross from Walgreens once, a long long time ago. I was out bashing my T-Maxx, do you remember that?
As for the off-road track, I would just like to have one nearby, whether it be casual like at Hastings or organized.
What went wrong with the Wamego track you guys were working on?
Nothing really went wrong, it just took alot of work to get it half azz close to being anything worth driving on. Then you're out in the country get dust blown in your eyes because of the drought. LOL All the work, takes the fun out of it IMO.
I'd rather just have as many of us as we can unofficially meet up at different places for some fun bashing. Like out at the dirt bike trails, the bike trails in the woods, Walmart parking lot on a Fri or Sat night, skatepark, and anywhere else. Good times!
Yes I would agree Q, it was ruff, but alot of it was I was a newbie, no clue what I was doing, it was at my buddies house and he let the neighbor on his banchie fourwheeler run over it drunk and a few other things, thats why I just forgot about it, until I could find some place more stable. The one in my back yard is no problem at all, alittle weed eat and its good to race.
Well it looks like we are willing to get together and bash wherever. Now we just need to get others that are willing and able as well.
You guys know my phone # and email if you want to get ahold of me for some bashin'.

I haven't been to the HS for a long time. Have you guys heard if anyone if prepping the old track? Are they going to do an open house this year?
There was a good turnout 2 years ago and the track was setup nice for what it is.
Q- a group redid the track last year, even rented equipment out of there own pocket and some of the old timers in the club didnt like it so they redid it again like it was to start with and pissed a bunch of people off, so I dont think many people will go out there, thats actually the big push to build a track here in Manhattan area, so there is no association with the JC club.
Yeah, that was really cr@ppy what those guys did. Too bad we don't have a track and a hobby store here in Manhattan. I think Quinton's got a good idea about meeting up at different locations to bash and race. Maybe everyone could make suggestions for cool spots to meet. I'll try to think of some too. Considering a lap counter is $6000?!?!?!? that might be our only option! Does that thing do anything besides count laps?
Concedering a lap counter is $6000?!?!?!? that might be our only option! Does that thing do anything besides count laps?
Wholey sh!t hoss, $6G, the one in Topeka was around $3G and they got 10 track transponders and a 20 transponder charger. You can buy it in parts, to start with all you need is the decoder and loop, surely someone has a laptop, and the software you can down load free, I have serveral on my laptop.
I called AMB and yes the only system being sold is the AMBrc3, $2980, and the loop is $165. Go to rctiming.com and you can download software. The track transponders are $135 each which personals are less than a 100 and the charger is $544.
So if you run all personals, the decoder and loop to get going is less than $3500. I will check on insurance today also.
what you guys need to do me and a couple buddys are doing itis buying a bunch 3" x 10' pvc its like 4-5 buck per and then going to the local sport store for some of thoughs little flat soccer disks for rubbles and we got us a nice track that way we can pack it up and run different surfaces tennis court what evers and its easy to set up
Yeah I heard about the track last year, but I heard it from a kid who (in my opinion) is your typical R/C'er. You know, they show up at the track once or twice and talk about how awesome their R/C is, you tell them they should bring it out and they say well it's at home in pieces waiting on a part to come in. Then they never come back.
There's new fresh fish every season, but they never show up.
It seems like there are plenty of GI's with R/C's but they seldomly show up either. I don't know why because I know Robin tells them that we run on Sundays. Robin does way more for the "sport" than she needs to. Her lazy azz boss needs to get off her booty and organize more things. It would only help their biz! Maybe she's just been at it too long and burnt out.
drew - We have lots of PVC and we (Gene & Les) set up a street track on Sundays in the Hastings parking lot. Gather up your boys and bring them over for some fun.
What R/C's you runnin'?
Re-read my post and it may of sounded harsh towards GI's. I didn't mean it that way at all.
All I'm saying is that if you know people that run r/c's no matter what it is, electric or nitro (yes we'll even allow Traxxas to run, LOL) tell them to come on over.
As Joe said, there are options to the all out $6000 system. That's just THE top of the line, full setup.
What we have done in the past is take a laptop loaded with free lap counting software and hand count. It can be awkward depending on the size of track and number of cars running at one time, but it works, and is reasonably accurate. Just get some cheap mailbox numbers and assign and hand out to drivers to stick on the cars, combine that with the PVC you already have and BOOM! You have organized racing!
