Oh, forgot to mention...there will be a deadline for a cheaper entry this year. The entry for the Endurance race will be $15 per team if we recieve payment and entry by May 2nd...it will be $20 the day of the race.
The Monster Challenge will be the same....$15 per truck on or before July 25th...the day of the Challenge will be $20. We will drill this into everyones head 100s of times before the race so EVERYONE will have plenty of time to plan!

Well, as long as it's not raining we will be there...whether it's 35 or 135 deg...we will be there. This year though if it's above 90 degrees we will automatically run only 2 qualifiers. It just gets too dangerous when it's HELL HOT!

yeah, last summer, it was hot as hell out there, i remember the temp guns reading the pavement at 150!!!!! i went home afterwards and passes out from heat exhaustion. It was worth it tho-------
this season, you should have some type of body contest, or best of show for the year....
I had to resize my avatar before it could work but ti works now that is my car how do i put a picture on the forum of a paint job i want i have it saved to my comp
We will have concourse judging at both the Endurance race and the Monster Challege so...You guys should have seent the paint that used to show up to the Tamiya TCS races...they would have full intereiors with rollbars, cutout front air dams..it was crazy! And then they made you run the body in at least 1 heat if you won!!

With all due respect Charlie, I think that dropping a qualifier when the temp is over 90 is a poor idea. I mean we live in Kansas, everybody knows when it's going to be hot and should plan for it. If I'm going to load up my stuff and drive over to KC, I really expect a full event. If I was coming from Topeka or farther, I would be really pissed off and probably wouldn't come back.
I spent 12 years in amateur and professional sportscar racing and I have never once seen an event modified because of heat and these guys are wearing triple layer driving suits and nomex underwear!
Just my 2 cents worth!

Trillian123: I know you expressed this to me before. One thing you must remember though is that we all aren't professionals. We're all just guys coming out to get together and have some fun. And lets be honest, there is NO way to plan and prepare for racing in 100+ temps! All the EZ-Ups, water, and ice in the world isn't going to help you out there in that kind of heat.
Personally, my feeling is that if the weather people say "stay indoors if you can help it", then asking people to come out and race in that type of weather would be irresponsible at best, and asking for disaster at the worst.
I can fully understand you not wanting to come out for only 2 rounds of qualifying, but the KC program has always had shortened days for extreme weather and we're going to stick with it.
The fact is that those types of temps really only threaten 1-3 race dates all year. Now, if we have some people who don't want to come back because they came on one of the shortened race days in 98 degree weather, that would be unfortunate, but thats a choice they're making...
We'll always be happy to have them if they choose to come back.

Thats all fine and dandy to want a nice body. But the stuff you've been going on and on and on about on here has nothing to do with simply wanting a nice body. From what you said, you have a nice body, you just don't want to use it.
I can even understand that, all of us at one point have had a body that we thought was too nice to run. But you want all your bodies to look like that, so........then what does that leave you to run on your cars!?!
Average high temp in July and August is 90
That would seem cover more than 1-3 events.
Perhaps you should advertise 2 qualifiers and a race and throw in a "bonus" qualifier when the temp is suitable.
I guess my point is, if I make the commitment to go racing, I'm already there and hot and my day is shot anyway. So why not run the whole thing?
It won't be right at 90...if it's like 92 or 93 or something like that then we can leave it up to the racers...it's when it get dangerous like 100+ heat index that we really can't be out there all day. What everyone has to remember also is Greg and I are usually there for at least an 1 to 1 1/2 hours after everyone is gone. And there were a couple times we didn't think we were gonna make it. Believe me...I want to race as much as possible, and I want everyone else to also. So believe me when I say..we will only cut the qualifier if absolutely necessary...not just when it gets a little hot.

Also, last season we only cut 2 race days short due to weather and both were a racers vote....majority ruled. We want all the racers from the area and from Topeka, Lawrence ...Misery..I mean Missouri..lol to come out and have a good time. We will try our best...sometimes Mother nature doesn't like us!

Darkseid and I take this job VERY seriously...and we intend to keep people coming out. We love doing this..it's a blast...It's also 10x more work than anyone who hasn't run a track could ever know. I bet I alone put 15-20 hours of time a week before Sunday just getting everything together, designing the layouts...getting prizes, etc. It's a lot to do...and when we spend that much time during the week getting ready...the last thing we want to do is cut the day short after all that effort....it's just we can't put peoples health at risk. There are many people that don't have EZ ups and believe me...without one...a 98 degree day is torture!!! I've been there...and have done it for years and years. True the heat is part of racing, but passing out from heat stroke to race toy cars isn't! Take it all in stride..we are on your (the racers) side!
