The trick for carbon fiber is using tool box mat. It's a rubber like mat you put in the drawers of your tool box and if you spray through it (right up against your body) with black or charcoal black, then take it off and spray silver or dark silver to cover the area that wasn't painted it gives the appearence of carbon fiber.

Yeah, both Parma and XXX Main and a few others sell carbon fiber stickers. XXX Main actually has colored carbon fiber now too.

rc-racer15: the matting can be got at places like hardwares stores and regular stores as well. I got mine at Wal*Mart. Just go to the kitchen section and look around the things that hold the silverware in the drawers. The matting will be around there. I think it was like $5 for the really BIG roll that I bought. [b]Just be sure to look at the holes in the matting and try to find the matting with the 'squarest' holes. Because there are some that are round, diamond, etc....you don't want those!

The stickers are okay as long as you can get them on without the bubbles...its much better to paint it on though. It just looks better. Try to avoid using it on complex curves though, its tough to get the matting to set well. Heating it with a hair dryer helps it to soften up and 'mold' to the bodies curves, but even then its usually best to keep it on flat or reasonably flat surfaces of the body.

If your trying to paint this sceme or any other complex designs, check this out first...

http://www.rctech.net/articles/paint...ntedmyst.shtml

...thats HauntedMyst's(rctech member) painting article. Its really good reading.

Or you can just stare at CIVIC91's paint jobs for a while and ask him a dozen questions till you understand how to do something.

I did both...

well the design that i had im mind was using the parma checker pattern that i have and put them close at the front of the body and have them far apart going towards the back. kind of looking like it was going so fast that the squares were coming off the back. but inside the squares i wanted to do carbon fiber with maybe some other colors as the main color for the body

RUBBER MAT

Yes tool box liner.....i got mine at O`Reilly, a huge roll for about $10
Cut out piece shape of area to spray etc etc.
I have tried varing the colors a bit now use a brown/pearlsilver mix + black
Looks very effective
With practice very simple to do

The next time I do graphite, I think I'll try it with a dark metallic blue instead of black. Just for something different.

Thumbs up EFFECTS

It`s an interesting effect what ever colors you use....think about some oddball colors not necessarily imitating C.F., also lining up pattern with body lines or running it diagonal etc etc.....for something so simple.....many many uses/effects

Well, if your painting indoors, in the living room, like I do, 'rattle cans' don't quite qualify. You know, fumes.....dying a slow sleepy death and all that stuff!
