WE WILL BE RACING TOMORROW....The rain is finishing up now and will be there to set up normal times...may take a little extra time for the track spray to dry but it's gonna be beautiful out!!!72 and SUNNY!!!
First off, just wanted to say I had much fun and that it was a beautiful Ideal day for RC..... I ran two classes again which makes it interesting to say the least. This way if one of my trucks takes a major "hit". I'm still racing....
2 things i need to bring up:
1) marshalls, I know that i am sometimes guilty for not going immediatly straight out to my corner after the race, but when I was raing Maxx class, where were the Marshalls on that final Main???? I was on my lid in the middle of the track running for ever. I had to leave the drivers stand to marshall my own truck. (it flamed out bad and overheated before i got too it and would not restart.)
2) 2 car Heats, Ironically i marshalled both heats that included only two cars?? BORING!!!!!! i thought it took at least 3 for a class. and then on the next heats we didn't have enough marshalls.
I don't want too bitch... Because i'm out there to have fun. I just thought i would bring this up for GP. anything i can contribute... I'm there................................
Thanks to all who brought it together this season....,,,
Yeah, Marshalling has been a problem, and unfortunately most likely always will. I've been racing for 8 years and that's always been a problem..sorry about your main. We try are hardest, and we will be much more strict next season. We are trying to get as many people into it as possible so for a short period we were a little leanient.
As far as the 3 car makes a class..I know it can be boring marshalling , but really I'm not goint to turn away racers. If they want to race, they will race. And to tell u the truth just because 3 or 4 people sign up for a class, not all of them make it through the day..Rookie had 3, but 1 car dropped out....really as long as there are 2 cars, and both are ok with running against each other we will run it. We try to accommadate everyone as best we can. Hopefull that answers your ???s Your not bitchin, ???s are fine..we need feedback..it helps us improve.
Glad u had a good day...we really appreciate people telling us how much fun they had..it takes A LOT of effort to put on the race program...A LOT. So when we get applause we greaty appreciate it!! Hope to see you in 2 weeks!
I would just like everyone to know that we (Darkseid and I) try our hardest to put on the best possible races we can with the limited resources we have. Everything that goes into that track comes out of either my or Darkseids pocket...we are not lucky enough to have any sponsership. That also goes for the prizes....there never used to be ANY prizes at OP. We discussed this and thought it would be cool to be able to give you guys a reward for your hard work and dedication. I know I really don't need to explain any of this..after all this a privately run club, but I just want all our racers to be aware of what is what. If anyone has a problem or thinks this is unfair or that is "cheap" let me know in private...I would much rather be able to let you know the situation than have people unhappy and us not know. Basiacally I want everyone to be either happy or content.we can't make everyone happy...we just try to please the masses.
I know some people were a little unhappy about the Maxx challenge, and how it was a little lop-sided....next year we will have mandatory pre-signups and will change things..if there is enough call for a seperate electric truck class will do it. We did the best with we could with a very un-specific class...This is not a flame on anybody..in fact this is more info than anyone really needs to know, but I like my racers to be aware and have as much fun as possible.
Again we greatly apreciate all our racers and their dedication to our great hobby!!!
I know some people were a little unhappy about the Maxx challenge, and how it was a little lop-sided....
I'll give ya my beef that that challenge. You took a power event and made it a speed race. Well if you have a STAMPEDE against a T-Maxx well DUH... the Maxx will win in 1.1 seconds easy. Its a 10 pound truck pulling 3.5 pounds.
Its not about electric vs nitro. I know my E-Maxx would pull ALL of the Nitro's there. Make it about power not a "timed event."
Instructions said single elimination, yet I never lost to any one I pulled against INCLUDING the WINNER of the Tug-o-War and was placed 8th in the event. TRUCK PULL is about power... not speed.
We will definately revise the setup next year, but we did the best we could with a very vast group. Essentially there will have to be a seperate electric class, and they will have to be a minimum to signup or we won't run that class. We threw everyone together becuase we knew there would only be a handful of electrics....also the nitro trucks are completely off centered. There are very few that run the same general power. It would become very costly to have trophies for 2 or 3 different truck classes. Essentially there will be a lot of stipulations to be able to have 2 truck classes...thanks for the input though...I appreciate it.
Feel free to give us ideas...are ears are open. Keep in mind this all has to be relatively simple..if u get into lots of numbers and things it makes it very time consuming.
An idea will be....only 2 drag runs....only 2 jumps....and we may have to really think about the tug...if it's multiple eliminations, whos to say your 2 or 3 opponents are your closest competition....I think we will have to have everyone pre-register and pay....and sit down and really figure out what goes where.
I think we both agree the electric truck will pull the nitro all day long and then some. In this one specific catagory, the elctric has the advantage.
In the long jump, I'd call it even.
In the speed run, its a toss up. Depends on how things are geared, but the nirtos can run faster.
I don't have a problem with it being one class. Its how we race in the parking lot, electrics vs nitro in Maxx class so why should the challenge be different? Nitro has the advantage in speed, electric in pull, and the jump is open. If you ask me. thats fair.
I thought that the Pull event should have been matched according to your speed run like it was. that was fair. However, after then, then we continue to match trucks by their pull speed and keep the winners out there and pull again against your closest rival. It continues until who ever wins the pull, is the truck that never lost. Thats fair.
It may be an electric truck that wins the pull, but then again the speed run is probably going to be a nitro truck.
That sounds fine to me...we would have actually probably done something similar to that except we tried to keep everything moving since it was like 350 degrees..lol
Next year we will try to do it when it's still nice out...maybe late May.
I am assuming this is Marcus? I like to put faces on screen names...this is Charlie if u hadn't figured it out...glad to see u made it here.
BEWARE - ONEFASTMAXX will return soon! Forcing the off-road truck to settle down and be smooth is big FUN! Ask Dos Pedro's what the back of my truck looks like!
Really Civic - I"ll be there next time. Another idea for the challenge is an obstacle course. It worked well at World of Wheels and nitro/elec would not be an issue.
