I read the official VTA rules and used that to create a finished car on paper and would like to submit that here for your opinions.

Chassis: Associated TC4 Club Kit
Electronics: Novak Edge 2s/Ballistic Boss 25.5t Race Combo; Futaba s3003
Front Wheels: HPI Black 8 Spoke 0mm offset #3806
Rear Wheels: HPI Black 8 Spoke 6mm offset #3811
Front Tires: HPI #4793
Rear Tires: HPI #4797
Body: HPI Porsche 911 GT1 #7038 (With period appropriate paint job, because I don't want to be laughed at lol)

Radio: Futaba 3PL 2.4ghz w/ R2004GF receiver

This all clocks in at just over $500, I already have good 2s 5000mAh batteries and charger. I took my time to try and make sure I choose legal parts but alot of the rules indicate that the local track can change some. So I figured I'd submit here to see what you guys think. I choose that radio for its multi-model function as I would like to run my 2 off-road RC's with it as well.
Ricky has already mentioned the body, so I'll make a different suggestion: You may want to consider a used, higher-end chassis. The TC4 has no optional gear diff, and will be overweight if you want to run it in a different class as your skills progress. But to be fair, I've been beaten by a couple of TC4's in VTA!

Will you have time to come to Topeka tomorrow?

Unfortunately I will not be able to come out tomorrow. Once this semester is over I will have more time. I had originally been looking at a few tamiya kits but it was a little difficult to decipher all the different types.

I won't be there either guys. My son was not doing well and ended up at Childrens Mercy having surgery (he had pyloric stenosis). Things are ok now, but needless to say, RC racing is low on my list of things to do right now.

have fun tomorrow, and hopefully I will be able to make it out soon!

I hope the surgery went well, and baby, mother, and father soon get back to life as usual. We'll miss you!

Had a lot of fun today but the wind could of been a little lower speed than mach II today. my i suggest no one to ever purchase a junk Coleman 12x12 ez up tent. big piece of weak JUNK!!!! I'm fixing it and keeping the turd at home for back yard trips only.

Want to say thanks to everyone who can out and raced today. nice to see some new racers coming to enjoy the day with us. I'll be getting the points standing up sometime later this week. having internet issues at the new house and waiting to get resolved.
