Yo Evo! Sup?

Anyone going to be at the new track location next weekend? I'll be home and thought I'd roll by and check it out.

Hi All

I'm new to board and for that matter going to be new to onroad, so I would like to get some opinions on a good 1/10 scale rtr or possibly a kit, I know there were 3 mentioned earlier in this thread, but I have a hard time leaving anything stock.
Thanks in advance Butch

Default Good Nitro cars

If your planning on racing alot buy a good Quality kit like Mugen MTX4 / Hpi R40 Hara edtion . I know HPI make's a entry level kit also R40 very reasonable . Belt type car's are good on prepaired surface's . Kyosho also makes a couple good car's . As for motor's that's really hard (what ever your wallet can open up to ). I like Rb concept or any nova based motors. But OS has a motor that is pretty good OSTZ 3port turbo 12. Most of the St. louis guy's will be using this motor.

I believe that Butch was speaking of the "ready to run" class. I think that Mark or Larry could give you the info on those. I do know however, if you run that class you must leave it ALONE. If you think that will be impossible then you might as well start off with a car (like wehbad mentioned) that you could run in the "pro" class.

It looks like we now have a layout for the new track designed by Steve Smith that we will try to post on here. If not, it will be available for viewing on Saturday at the track.

Default sedan thoughts

Welcome to the board Butch!

Here's my pick for the RTR that are authorized....

Team Associated NTC3 plus RTR
OFNA CD3 PRO RTR
OFNA CD3 Sport RTR
Traxxas 4-TEC nitro RTR

As far as pro KITS go I would choose in the following order...

Mugen MTX 4 or HPI R40 ( HARA or 2004 )........ HPI parts are cheaper and easier to get... no additional hopups needed for any of these cars!

Kyosho RRR WCE...... top kyosho touring car with upgraded parts

Kyosho RRR..... top kyosho base model

Mugen MTX-3 prospec..... excellent older car to the MTX-4

Team Magic G4S...... new on the market... great value

If your not an expert with nitro motors you can't go wrong with the OS .12TZ 3 port turbo. Reliable, easy to tune, POWERFUL, and low priced ($180) from rc-toro.com

If you have some experience with nitro and wanna lighten your wallet and go maybe a little faster Novarossi is the ticket. Any newer 3 port Novarossi. Just make sure you get pilot shaft and slide carb. The best bang for the buck in the Novarossi department would be the RBConcepts V12 3 port turbo with SG crank ($219). Made by Novarossi to RB specs. Still a Novarossi either way.

I currantly run off road 1/8scale buggy unlimmited and monster truck. I also do nitro engine mods on the side, thats where I cant leave stock alone. I like to go fast and onroad sounds fun. I'm leaning toward a rtr for a starter car not sure which. any thought on the ofna gpx4, and what is the driveline preferance shaft or belt, Mite do a kit, have to see what the budget allows. thanks

We welcome you to come out and race, but if you plan on running the RTR class engine mods are not allowed. If you want to mod the motor there is nothing stopping you from using a RTR car in the Pro class though.

I removed the dimension layer from this drawing as it cluttered the view in this small (gif) format. Here are the important details:

Track is based on a 200' x 100' chunk of asphalt. Lane width is 20' on the SAW and sweeper, 15' EVERYWHERE in the infield, and 5' in the pits.

After many discussions with Todd, the ultimate goal is to run 'Cincinnati style' curbs in the corners. In the meantime, I'm devising a way to 'simulate' that in a non-permanent manor such that we can test this layout for a race or two.
