If you visit the website, there are lots of photos of the completed track!

The "RACE an Andretti" event we put in May before the Indy 500 on turned out great! We had Marco Andretti, Ryan Hunter Reay and Carlos Munoz racing against us and others. Fun event. More photos of that here: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?...8878758&type=3

Best place to ask is www.facebook.com/hrcracers
Those guys are the most frequent users and can advise the best. The track isn't regularly watered. So, conditions can very from perfect and sticky to dry and dusty. We are working on that with the Avon Parks Department. The plans eventually call for water at the site rather than a long hose which is currently what we are using. Electrical is coming too, but Duke Energy has to drop a power pole close by. They haven't given us the schedule on that year.

I posted on Facebook and got a few replies. It seems that the Pro-Line Caliber is a popular choice. Thought I'd share here too.

We had our 1st official race at the new "TRAK 36" at Avon Town Hall Park in Avon, Indiana on July 17th.
It went much better than I expected being the first one. We used a caller system for the races. Same method the RC boat racers use. For our crowd, not having to buy transponders may be a good thing to compete. That's another $100 people can put in their vehicles instead of electronic gizmos.
In the future, we will have a timing system option, but for fun club racing, I think the way we did it was dandy. Next race is August 28th, then October 9th. (Parks department wanted to limit it to three this summer.)

Here's the Hoosier RC Racers upcoming races flyer. We are not going to really promote these upcoming Avon track races too much. Last time, without promoting the race, we would have ended at about 5 PM (if it hadn't rained) with the racers that showed up. Each round took about 1 1/2 hours. The park would like us to be done about 6 PM if possible.

Sorry Slow Poke. We don't monitor this page often. If you need immediate answers, use the "Contact Us" button on the website, or go to the Facebook page and post there: www.facebook.com/hrcracers
The Avon RC Track is open 7 days a week from sun up to sun down. You can practice on it any time its open. The only times its closed is due to the track being too wet and muddy. If you want an update on track status, go to www.AvonGov.org. That is the Town of Avon website and they post whether the track is "OPEN" or "CLOSED" due to weather. Unfortunately, some times, they don't remember to update that. But, its the best we've got for now. Eventually, the club hopes to purchase a webcam for the track so that we can see the status.
Hope that helps!

Sadly, the race for tomorrow, August 28th, has been CANCELLED. We had too much rain for the track to dry in time for the races on 8/27.
We will try to do a make up date if possible in September. The Park Department has to approve the date because their park is used for so many events. They try to keep it to one or two big events going on at the same time.
Our next race date that is already approved is October 9th.

Well, we rescheduled the race for today if you've been following Facebook. So much rain in the last two days that we had to CANCEL AGAIN due to the track being mud! Drat. Well, our next race is October 9th.
