Has anybody tried a sensored motor with the Traxxas Funny Car? Just wondering if it would be better. The stock ESC looks like it has a port for the sensor cable, but you would have to move it or modify the chassis.

Sensored would help if having mamba shuffle issues and if you want to throw more timing into it. Everyone is running stock motor and still having issues making it down the track. Not sure sensored would fix that. I'm getting closer

That would also imply that you can put less timing in to slow things down too. Hmmmm.... I've already built a locking diff and I've been playing with radio settings to smoothen the take off but sensorless motors always seem to have that threshold where it's either off or full on. I hope to actually try it on the track one day.

Anyway, I'll keep looking for a cheap sensored motor. Or maybe not so cheap. I just want to go faster.

Don't remember but are you using you Futaba radio? Have you replaced the firmware with CC?

Yeah, I'm using the Futaba radio. I couldn't get the throttle to work initially so I looked online and found that the Castle Link in the ESC has to be disabled. Fortunately I have the Castle interface for an ESC on my 600 heli so I was able to update the firmware and program the ESC with my computer. The Futaba has all these control settings for throttle speed and stuff so you can tailor the throttle response throughout the trigger stroke. Kinda neat.

I'm still looking for a good sensored motor but for now I'll live with the stock motor. The power is good, but I want something smoother on the bottom end. ==>
