Ahhhh! You're in luck! We have 2 such classes, just put your Latemodel body over your SCB body. It'll be like David Copperfield - an illusion!

Thanks to Gene and Adam at TurtleTrax for our raffle and door prizes! If anyone needs any parts, TurtleTrax can get them!

Race Day.

It's going to be an awesome day of racing at Action Speedway as we'll crown the inaugural Summer Shootout champions today.

Along with that we have some fantastic door prizes to give away, courtesy of TurtleTrax Hobbies. These prize include a new body, new servo, lexan sheets and shock oil. Each racer will be given a "blue" ticket when they sign up. Additional blue will be sold for $1.00 each. Also, we'll be raffling a 8.5 turn Viper sensored motor, also compliments of TurtleTrax. These "red" tickets will be $3.00 each or 4 for $10.00. All raffle proceeds go towards awards for our Toys For Tots race in November.

The Inaugural Short Course Super Late Model Summer Shootout at Action Speedway is in the books, and Action Speedway certainly lived up to its name with intense racing all throughout the event.

Track owner Jeff Garrett, along with Mike DeAngelus, had spent the majority of the week leading up to the Shootout preparing the racing surface. As the drivers hot lapped and tuned their machines it was evident that the blue grooved track was going to be fast and predictable for the event.

During the drivers meeting it was announced that the Sportsman division would run under the same race and points format as the Super Late Model division. The Sportsman division had previously ran shorter lap races and did not have a points program.

In Sportsman qualifying the drivers were only separated by a few thousands of a second; however, it was Brett "Tappy" Garrett from Rome that put his number 2 Slash on the pole, securing him a front row starting position for the first heat race, which he won. In the second Sportsman heat race first time racer Mike Dove secured his front row feature starting spot by taking his number 13 SC10 to victory lane.

In Super Latemodel qualifying it was Rome driver Scooter Allison taking top qualifying honers, placing him on the pole for the first of two qualifying heats for the SLM division. After 40 laps it was Allison, Michael Roy and Eric Madden transferring to the inside row of the A Feature.

In the second 40 lap qualifier, Mike DeAngelis from Adairsville jumped from the pole position to the early lead, but it was "Nitro" Jim McConnell taking the win and transferring to the outside front row of the A Feature, relegating DeAngelis to second and Covington's Britt Dove in third. James Jeong and Jeff Garrett rounded out the 8 car A feature by virtue of finishing first and second in the B main.

In the Sportsman feature Brett Garrett jumped to the early lead, followed by outside front row starter Mike Dove and Calhoun, Georgia's Derek Jenkins. Unfortunately, Garret's ride was sidelined due to steering problems, yielding the lead to Derek Jenkins. As Jenkins held the lead throughout the remainder of the race, second place was the action spot for the Sportsman feature as literally every driver held the position for at least one lap. At the flag it was Jenkins winning (first feature win), followed by former winners Andrew Barton and Jeremy Jeong.

Sportsman Final Results:
1. Derek Jenkins - #2, Slash, Calhoun, GA
2. Andrew Barton - #14, SC10, Jersey, GA
3. Jeremy Jeong - #7, Arma, Holly Springs, GA
4. Mike Dove - #13, SC10, Covington, GA
5. Billy Bowden, X Factory, Rome, GA
6. Brooke Dove - #10, SC10, Covington, GA
7. Brett Garrett - #2, Slash, Rome, GA
8. Levi Wilkerson - #33, SC10, Covington, GA

The Super Latemodel A Feature started with Scooter Allison in his number 59 Slash on the inside and the 0 of Jim McConnell on the outside. At the horn McConnell moved to the early lead, leading the first lap. However, a tangle in turn one with a slower vehicle and second place Allison allowed Mike DeAngelus to make the pass as he led the next nine circuits. On lap ten DeAngelus' pace was slowed allowing Allison to regain the top spot, which he held through the duration of the race. As McConnell maneuvered his way to second, DeAngelus settled into third as they reached the checkered flag.

Super Latemodel Final Results:
1. Scooter Allison - #59, Slash, Rome, GA
2.Jim McConnell - #0, Slash, Rome, GA
3. Mike DeAngelus - #55, Slash, Adairsville, GA
4. Eric Madden - #94, Slash, Stone Mountain, GA
5. Michael Roy - #34, SC10, Decatur, GA
6. James Jeong - #5, Arma, Holly Springs, GA
7. Britt Dove - #1, HPI Blitz, Covington, GA
8. Jeff Garrett - #17, Slash, Rome, GA
9. Paul Bowden - #73, SC10, Rome, GA
10. Dylan Binkley - #14, Slash, Cedertown, GA

Special thanks to Larry Smith Automotive Machine Shop for providing the Summer Shootout trophies and TurtleTrax Hobbies for providing the raffle prizes. With their help we raised $141.00 which will go into the trophy fund for the Toys For Tots race later this year!

The next club style event at Action Speedway will be July 13. The next points race at Action Speedway will be July 27.
