is there anyone in or around the athens area interested in starting a r/c racing club in this area. i am interested in 1/10 oval or road racing.

I'm in Athens as well. Nothing out here for R/C . HotShots (1.5 hours away) is your best bet.

ok thanks dane. if you want to meet up some time and run some in a parking lot let me know. i used the lot where the old wal mart use to be across from the mall a couple of sundays ago.

hey monster i have an oldert rc10l and a hyperdrive oval. i know there was some rc action going on in athens years ago and watched one night at a indoor carpet track at the alps center .

I'm not close to Athens, but oval racing is my gig. I have a nice track of my own. It is clay however. I have races once/month March through November. I wish there were more, well any Oval tracks. So far as I know, there is just me and the Peachbowl, which is in Brooks.

I used to go to Athens 3 times a week so it does not bother me. I'm not against going to a new track when I can. Like Aardvark I'm for some oval and onroad. Mostly if you can get a grand opening race to invite the peeps to check it out. My first oval race will be at Aardvarks. I have no choice, he will let out spike strips if I try to veer off I-75 in March.

Loganville R/C is about 35 minutes away, and Lake oconee r/c complex is about 45 minutes away, so there is some r/c in and around Athens

Easley SC has a nice banked oval that runs every week. The most popular group is eight sec Breakout. They even run 1/4 scale. Its off exit 39 on 85.

If it gets started I would race there. F1 and something based on a touring car chassis. I'm about 30 min from Athens so no problems getting there.
