If you do get the 2.0 - you'll have to make a wire split to run a personal transponder - but if you are just starting you can borrow or use a handout transponder that just clips in. I'm not sure if a 3 channel receiver will work with the 2.0 - Just FYI

I have a couple of the XS3's we use them on our monster trucks. They are good radios, and with everyone going to 2.4GHZ we never have had a conflict.
