Brushless braking

Brushless braking
I have a question for the experts...I am having trouble getting my Touring car to brake properly. I am running a Novak 13.5 brushless / XBR sport ESC combo. I have tried all of the profiles my esc has and adjusted my radio to max braking but still it just gradually slows. Is this just a characteristic of a brushless 13.5? I am running tha 21.5 on my vintage car and it brakes fine. Is this just because of the extra torque of the 21.5? I'm having all kinds of problems driving my TC and I think one of the reasons is the lack of braking power. I'm overshooting the turns if I try to brake. The other reason is I just suck. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Try holding the car in your hand or on a stand or something so that the wheels can turn freely and gun it then try and brake. Not that it will fix the problem... but it will at least give you an idea of how much or how little it is braking. Next I would check the radio. Check your throttle trim, sub trim, epa, all that stuff. Make sure they are as close to 0 as possible. If you have to, set all the adjustments to 0 and reset the ESC. Aside from all that.. the only other thing I can think of is gearing? tall pinion plus tall spur equals less brakes? I'm not sure how much it effects touring cars... but we run into that problem in slot cars every now and then.
If you get to come out this weekend, I'll take a look and see if I cant figure it out. If not, I'll try to find someone who can.

Thanks for the response K-Spec. I did go back through my radio manual and started from scratch and reset everything but the braking still seems the same. Of course I may have missed something. I think you are running the same motor / ESC combo that I am except you are running the Pro version instead of sport, right? Does yours brake well? Maybe it is because of my "sport" esc? I actually ran faster times with my 21.5 VTA than I did with my 13.5 TC last week. It may just be that the slower speeds of VTA match up with my "skill" level. Maybe I can make it out Sunday and let someone else see if they can get the thing to stop!

Try swapping motors from car to car. That way you can isolate the problem to either ESC or motor.
A weak rotor can decrease braking power. You may also swap rotors to see if that is the problem.
