Again, this would defeat the purpose of the class... The whole idea behind running the late 60's & early 70's bodies is right in the name... If you ran the newer body styles then it just wouldn't be the same class.. Besides, people are wanting to use the newer style bodies for the pro 10 class.
x2 the alfa does sound cool though since he is right that it did compete in the same era trans am series

it did race trans am but late in the 70's the vintage trans am series uses cars from the 60's and early 70's
If this class is gonna happen we need to go by the rules of the USVTAS

I still wouldnt object.
I havent really paid any attention to the pro 10. The beauty of the USVTA is that it is a stepping stone between Mini and Touring. Its slower than touring since its four cell, and the tires and wheels put new and old cars on the same level.

If we do this. I'd like to stick by the rules. There are very few of them to begin with. What makes the class so attractive is the simple rules. Let's just keep it that way.

Ok as it turns out the Alfa is not legal even though it actually did race in the same period. Here is the quote from the PM with the series creator.

But I guess its not legal since its not on the list of bodies posted in the rules. So What Im wondering is. What are your plans if this series gets big enough to effect the industry? What if new shells are produced to represent 70's TA cars? Do they have to be American Pony cars?
I just wanted to hear from you on this.
Because the cars like the Alfa Romeo GTV, Datsun 510 and Porsche 911 were actually in a different class in the Trans Am Series (under 2.5 liters), they were all very different cars. We don't have any plans to accommodate those cars at this time. But you never know.
ok...now we are talking...out with the touring car bodies and in with the Trans Am bodies!
Not to hijack the electric trans am thread but I wondered how long it would be before we saw this...hmmmm

I love the way that shell is done but I start to have seizures when I try to paint on the outside of lexan.
You don't have to. Spray all the color underneath like usual. Then cut away the black hood area on the top part of the mask. Then spray some clear frost on it to give it that satin finish. That way when you crash the color still stays on the car and not chip away.
they do look cool i wouldnt mind running them if i could afford a new class

I was thinking about that the other day but came across the dilemma of restricting the engine i guess thats one way to take care of it...i just wondering if a nitro car is going to have too much power for those tires
