I don't think that you would have to be on the track by yourself, but the whole heat would have to be able to run close to that pace. I think the current limiting factor is that there is such a huge spread of pace in the qualifiers that the faster guys are constantly "tripping" over the slower cars.

YES You understand thank you !!!Xpress There are so many other things that make up lap times and pace in a race.

Are you saying that the calculation for the pace is determined as soon as the finish line is crossed for the first time? Thus giving a false pace prediction?

Can that computer be set up for time trials, or could we do time trials just by doing one person heats? It would be cool just to let the quick guys take a shot at the record. I would show just to turn marshal that.

Just from my experience with racing software the lap pace would need at least 3 or 4 laps to calculate. So if you had a 3 sec first lap it would likely show a 91 lap pace. Course the more laps in and closer to the end of the race would show a more accurate pace.

If you want some individual times there's software I helped develop called LapWatcher. You can get lap times direct to your laptop computer, create setup sheets, associate timed sessions with setups, chart session and more. As long as you have this software installed on your computer and the track has an AMB system, the server version of LapWatcher (free) and a local area network (LAN), wired or wireless. It will even run in the background of the tracks computer while their scoring software is running. Not only will it do all this it'll even call out lap times. I've used it with a bluetooth earplug that you would use with a cell phone.

It's available for evaluation download, but at the moment JL the designer of LapWatcher is in the hospital and won't be able to issue codes to activate it for a week or so. Some of you may remember JL and Tiago who raced on road with us a few years back. If you would like to send him a get-well e-mail his addy is: [email protected].
