Default Tracks around Pensacola, Florida

Hi all,

I will be moving to Pensacola, Florida in the near future, I would like to know more about the RC culture there!

I'm looking to attend races on a frequent basis. However the only class i run is 1/10 touring.

What are the tracks nearby other than the one at Hobby Central(as i will definitely be heading there)? I understand that Pensacola is very near to Alabama so any on road tracks there near Pensacola would be very much appreciated!

Unfortunately there's not a whole lot going on around here for, the only other on-road I know of is deep up in Alabama but that's on-road oval. For on road you're only local option is Hobby Central and that is just a parking lot setup. If you decide to try out off-road there's B&T RC central over in Fort Walton beach, and an indoor carpet track Dothan Indoor RC in Dothan Alabama.

Cool RC TRACK PENSACOLA

Pensacola has no offroad RC track still... so we built one!!

See more info below. Hope to see you all at the soft-opening this weekend.

Press Release:
RC TRACK OPENING MAY 13 and 14, mothers day weekend, in Pensacola, FL

King Cobra of Florida Outdoor RC Track is the first ever outdoor race track for remote control cars. All Pensacola area RC lovers are invited to bring their friends and family to the soft-opening celebration and open racing party Mother's Day weekend, from 8am to 7pm on Saturday May 13th and Sunday May 14th. Food, drink, and fun RC rentals for kids are all available for sale as well as restrooms and parking provided.

Pensacola, FL, May 10, 2017 -- What started a few months ago as hobby shop employees racing remote-control cars before and after work, has turned into an exciting new activity for kids and families in the area to enjoy any day of the week.

King Cobra of Florida Outdoor RC Track is the first ever outdoor race track for remote control cars. All Pensacola area R/C lovers are invited to bring their friends and family to the soft-opening celebration that lasts all Mother's Day weekend, May 13th to May 14th, from 8am to 7pm, and will include racing, food, family and fun.

Owner Bryan Calderon has invested thousands of dollars and hundreds of man-hours working on this 20,000 square foot facility at 8310 Lillian Highway in Pensacola, Florida.

“It's not work when you are having fun,” Bryan says about the new rc race track.

“We have always sold RC cars here at our shop, but mostly online and not many in person...” Calderon said. “However once we started working on this RC track, and announced it on social media, we have had our walk-in RC business explode overnight.”

The track has attracted calls and visits from people, young and old, from all over Northwest Florida, Alabama, and states as far away as Louisiana, because it’s the only outdoor race track of its kind in this region made specifically for offroad rc driving.

"The response from the community so far has been overwhelming," stated Calderon. "We would like to thank the hundreds of RC fans who have shown us love and support on social media, as well as calling us or stopping by to tour the new track, or buy cars and parts in the last couple of months."

Calderon said that it wasn’t the initial plan, when opening his business King Cobra of Florida, Inc. which is primarily a motocross dirtbike dealership that has dabbled in a few other hobbies like remote control cars. After seeing how much fun his family and employees have driving RC cars around before and after work, the idea came to open a race track specifically for remote control cars.

They spent weeks planning and designing the track, and even more time building it. They have also invested over $13,000 in making it a reality. The track is built to fall within the guidelines of ROAR (Remotely Operated Auto Racers), which is the National non-profit corporation organized to promote the sport of radio controlled model car racing.

Along with the track, they purchased extra cars to rent out, built a driver's stand and other features for the track, as well as stocked up on more batteries and rc car parts. They also installed a “pit area,” with work-stations where racers can work on their cars and make any repairs right next to the track.

They offer daily and monthly passes, as well as family monthly passes for unlimited track use all month long, for the whole family. Drivers can pay $10 and spectators $1 for all day access. Car rentals are available for those who don't have their own RC car. Special events or races will be held at least once a month, so folks will have a chance to compete in a professional race setting. Fresh cooked burgers, hot dogs and other food and drink will be available for sale, and restrooms and parking are provided for everyone.

"We hope to see everyone come out on Mother's Day weekend and have some good family rc fun for our soft-opening celebration."

Default There have been more than a half dozen offroad rc tracks in Pensacola

Hobby Central had a track behind Sears where the Hampton Inn is now. There was a track at Creighton road for years. Another track on Johnson Ave near West Florida, another one at the fairgrounds, one behind Bobes on W st and one at the old post office on Lillian hwy. There was also an indoor offroad track on Fairfield near Dog Gulf Beach hwy. I am sure I may have missed one.
