Default Placed an Order

I placed an order last week for one of Fantom's ION 17.5 and a 13.5. They are a very backed up so it will be a couple weeks before i get them. but i'm in so hurry My Novaks are working fine. I have heard alot of good things about the Fantom Motors.

Is there any "special" gearing for these motors or use my standard gear by temp rule.

The 17.5 is going in my T4 and the 13.5 SC10. I hope not to be desipointed. I just want to try something diffrent. No one seems to use these here in my area...

I own a Fantom 13.5 and two 10.5 and you will not be disappointed in them. Use your standard gearing method, by temp. In my T4 with the 13.5 I run a 27/81 gear combo and the motor comes off the track at 130's temp. Very reliable and very fast motors. There is a reason that so many items are on back order at Fantom, they make good products and by the time new stock hits the floor its all sold and most of the time it never reaches their shelves as stock!

With the 17.5 in my T4 I usually run about a 78/33 or 32 depending on the track. This gives my a final ratio of 6.1 which is way lower than recomended but its what I use. The gearing chart shows that basically you should be using around 78/26. Give these a go and see how it works. I have not done much testing with my truck and 17.5 gearing but my last race that is what gearing I used and it worked so I guess try and see what you think works for you.

Regards,

Ryan

Default 17.5

You should acutually be able to gear up a few teeth with the FANTOM and still come off at the same temp. The Fantom motors have more Torque right out of the Box. In my T4 when i run my 17.5. I put the 13mm Rotor in it and went up 6 teeth on the motor and it still was the same temp. I was pulling Wheelies on the straight away with the T4 with a Fantom ION1, with a 13mm rotor, running a 37/75.

My Nephew runs a J82 with the 17.5 ION 1, with the 13mm rotor and he runs in the 13.5 class and pulls them in the straights and over jumps. with a 17.5.

Received the 13.5 i oredered and .....OMG
that this is fast and smooth. I installed it in my SC10 my first test was at the JBRL Electric series i didnt win but did finish 4th in Open Short Corse. Beating out many factory drivers. Many racers asked what i had in it they thaught i had a 10.5 or 8.5.

I can't wait to get the other two 17.5 that are on back order...

Thank You Fantom Racing

Default gearing

Hiya

Am running a Cyclone S with a Fantom Ion Pro 10.5 on an indoor carpet track (fairly large) and would like to have some idea of gearing for it, am currently running 5.82:1 and reaching about 130 Degrees, can I time this away from 0 or is this counter productive, please help as the motor is fab and I believe that it has more to give. BTW am running on IP 5000 40C Lipo.

Thank guys

Default Gearing

What Kind of car is your 10.5 in???
I gear all of my cars buy Temp. Because a Fantom motor wants to run cool but you can also put a larger gear ratio on them due to the large amount of torque that the have.
