Default Little help needed on fantom 13.5

Hi all,
Just purchased a 13.5 fantom motor and I would like some info on gearing. Atm I'm driving Orion 13.5 race spec with SPX ESC on a very large track in Heemstede (Netherlands) with a back straight of +250ft.
I'm gearing my Orion at 3.6-3.8 FDR, speed is goed and temp is also OK (150F). With this setup I'm up there in the top 3 every time. Now I want to give fantom a try but how do I gear them (I will be the only one driving these motors)?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
Zoran

Default 13.5 GEARING

First of all how Hot do you run your Motors????
On a Long track like the i have run a 25/75 on my T4. I like to Keep my Motoros in the 140-155 temp range. I have found that here in Arizona that the ION 1 motors Like to runn Cooler than any other Motor. I have found that the ION 1 Motor can run a Faster Gear Ratio and still come off Cooler. I would recomend that you run the AE 72,75,78 Spur gears, try them and see what your temp and what the Power Band is doing. The Temp. and Humidity levels are Way Diffrent than in the States. Aslo of you want and INSANE POWER BAND, put one of the 13mm Rotors in it. You will have SO MUCH TORQUE that you can put Huge gears on it and it will run evn Cooler. The ION Motors are a AWESOME product From a Company that TRULLY CARES about it's product and its Customers. Just Remember that the ION motor runs Cooler and has more Torque than other Motors in it CLASS.

I hope that you keep doing well & that the FANTOM line of RACING PRODUCTS far EXCEEDS your past Experiences with other Brands.

Thanks for the info Cowboy, but I'm driving TC on-road and not off-road. It is a big difference in gearing between the two.
My fdr of 3.6 (with Orion) is 66/37 with internal ratio of my Tamiya TRF416 2.055:1.
I think I will start with this and go from there.

Default Fantom

Thats ok. I run the same motor in my TC5R & F as well as in my 12R5 i still gear my motors by Temp. If you run the ION 1 Motors cooler they have Tons of Torque. I would still say to run the 13mm Rotor you can put alot of gear on it and it still runs cooler than other Brands. if you want put the ION motor in a run it with the same gear Ratio as you woud with the ORION, Yous should probably be Coming off the track At least 20-30 degrees Cooler than the Orion, and it will feel like it is still pulling all the way through the Straight.

Thanks for all the info Cowboy,
I'm excited already to try this one. Got a message from Jeff that my motor is shipped, can't wait.
