Yeah... I have just put together a B44 with the 5.5 Ion with a GTB.
It's looking good because after the 5 min heats the temps are well within limits, and she isn't slow.
I was a bit dubious not being a big fan of Novak, but I had one laying around and it works fine.

Default Fantom Motors

As A Fantom Team driver i have found that the Ion series of motors works even better with the LRP speed controls. I run a 5.5 to a 10.5 in my B44 and 7.5 to 17.5 in my B4,T4,J82,TC5R&F i run the ION 1 series motors with MAJORLY POSITIVE Results.

I second this. I had my Fantom motors running on GTB's for most of the winter season, and they ran good. I just switched all of my ESC to LRP TC Spec's and I have even better performance. So much so, that guys who use to be just as fast as me are now asking what I did to get more speed since I can pull away down the long straights now. LRP + Fantom = Better Performance

Agreed. The ion 1 spec motors seem to provide a lot more torque. You can gear them higher and they stay cooler then the ion 2.

The ION2 is a Pulse Based Motor. Yes they are Trinty based, But they are Massaged and and Tuned to the FANTOM standards that Jeff and the Crew have set. I have people at a local track that where diehard Trinty. i Passed them with a Smaller motor and a NIMH pack and then the next week they all had ION motors. Fantom has Stepped up HUGE in this Brushless market, but the ION 1 speeks for itself when it comes to MONSTER HORSEPOWER at very Low Temps compared to other Motors. I trully believe the way to go is a ION1 motor with a 13mm Rotor, I put one together for a Local Kid he is Pulling WHEELIES with a 17.5 & a 13mm Rotor in a T4FT. we was running 13.5 lap times with a 17.5 ION1. And he was coming of a 140 degrees after 10 minutes. The motor was still pulling the hole straight away. NOW THATS POWER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
