We are looking to find more rocks and add some more areas. When finished I think they might hold some crawling events and what not. Those of you in the area make sure to come check it out. As well if you know where some good free rocks are. Feel free to ask me any questions on here and I will respond as soon as I can. I will hopefully post some pictures soon.

I have a few questions and I am looking for some input from fellow racers and people who are in the Central Illinois area around Peoria.

I moved to the area 2 years ago and have been into RC for 20 years on and off. My real passion is on-road electric and can’t get myself into off-road. I have experience in Virginia working at a Hobby-town and running parking lot races. I also spent a few years over in England racing on road while in the service and learned alot from them on running a club and also did a national touring series over there (BTCC) along with some 1/12 nationals. I came back to the states and moved to Peoria. I raced a few nitro on-road races last year but the travel got too much.

There is a definite lack of (or should I say non existent) on-road tracks in the area. Has there ever been an on-road program in the Peoria area in the past? I know this would be a real tough road to go down, but with the help of a few people or the interest of a few, I am looking at maybe trying to start a racing program.

I know the current top of the line touring cars are very expensive and it is not cheap to get into it. I would love to get 15 guys running 13.5 but in reality, it is not going to happen. There are some good options with RTR’s, the new Trans Am class and F-1 classes.

I am not looking at running a carpet track, but I think if I bring it back to basics, where touring cars started, find a nice 100 X 50 ft piece of a parking lot some where, grab some pvc pipe, fire hoses, get access to a lap counter, and get something going in the spring. If you build it, they will come..lol

The Vintage Trans Am class would be a great way to get new people in the hobby, and there might be a few of you that have an old touring car lying around that would enjoy something like this. We could even run some oval. I think the most important part would be to keep it simple, and don't get it so there are 10 classes with 2 or 3 people running in them, again, use the KISS method. It would be great to have a fun atmosphere, help people get into the hobby and promote the hobby etc.

I am willing to spend a-little to get this going and spend some time organizing the program. I have some ideas and I think I can make this work. If you guys have any inputs, ideas, or would like to help that would be wonderful, please let me know. You can pm me or e-mail me at jslandau321@aol.com.

Here is a link to the VTA class rules.
http://www.usvintagetransam.com/
Thanks,

Hello Everyone!

My name is Wesley Lawrence, I am the son of Tony and we recently purchased the store/track about two and a half weeks or more ago. We are Very excited to get the place turned around and look forward to meeting you guys either online or in person at the store! We do understand that the place had been let go somewhat and that parts and new models were VERY inadequate. We are trying our absolute best to get everything going in the right direction and we encourage everyone in the area to come out and give us a real shot at meeting all of your R/C needs.

On the store side of things we want to make one thing very clear... We want everyone in the area dealing with us! We will meet/beat prices and we like to deal and keep everyone happy! It is very hard to compete with the online stores right now but we appreciate you giving us the first shot at your business and we will do everything we can to keep you happy. Also, we are very open to imput from the R/C racers/bashers out there on what parts and models you would like us to carry and what parts you will be needing in stock. We encourage you to come by, check us out, and provide some good positive imput so that we can get everyone happy again.

On the track side, there are a few exciting new things in order. For now, being fall and early winter, we will have the outdoor track open for practice, as well as a BRAND NEW oval carpet track we are putting in upstairs. I believe Larry Dean hinted at this in an earlier post, but yes we are definitely working hard on getting it going up there. We will be running 1/18th scale sliders and late models, spec and mod classes, and we intend to have A LOT OF FUN! In the spring we plan on having all new dirt hauled in that will hopefully groove a little better, as well as a more "big race" style layout.

Sorry to ramble guys, just a lot of good info and I hope to hear from you all and meet you soon!

Thanks a lot,
Wes Lawrence

I woke up to a surprise this morning, I had my RC18t, DX3s radio, and BC112C charger stolen out of my car in Hoffman Estates. If anyone sees these pop up for sale, or at the local track, please send me a message. I would be glad to offer a reward for information leading to its return, or even just catching the person responsible.

The truck has a fairly detailed white/yellow/green/blue Parma custom classic body, Jaco prism foams, a lot of aluminum parts (mostly silver) with the chassis being about the only thing left stock, and a Tekin mini rage brushless.

Here are a few photos I found online for reference:
