Default Engine Timing Issue

Hi,

May i know what really mean by timing issue in side the engine?

The fuel and plug combo? Ignition? Number of head shim will also affect the timing?

BTW what will cause an engine to respond slow/lag at the bottom end?

- pipe?
- venturi size too big?
- piston n plug clearance?

Thanks!

sorry for the simple reply, but it would be usefull. go to www.nitrorc.com you will find the answer there.

my recomendation is to call the manufacture of the engine and ask them on stock settings with nitro %, most of them are setup with 20%. once your car is running have fun with it. ask your local fast guys for assistance.

BTW
You won't get a simple answer to your question. what you are asking takes years of testing and experience. "can't expect to be given a degree without the work"

James,

There are a couple of different timing issues inside the engine

1. The distance in degrees of rotation from the piston at top dead center to the top of the exhaust port or the transfer ports ... Port timing

2. the number of shims or distance from the top of the piston to the bottom of the cylinder button ... Compression or ignition timing

3. The amount of degrees of rotation that the crank shaft opens under the carb until the opening closes ... Crankshaft intake timing

4. Tuned pipe timing ... the length of manifold and pipe, changing the timing of the back pressure, changing when the engine comes on the power
