Keep in mind our stuff is matched at 35 amps.......so, a 1.199 is more like a 1.210 at 30 amps....runtime you add 45-60 seconds....

Our stuff is matched by SMC......so quality is not an issue.....

Dumas has won 19t and 1/12th modified at the last two races using our packs....

Not to make this an advertisment for your sponsor forum...I would say that Express puts out quality cells, as does Brood, Fusion, EA, SMC, Surge, Hurricane. What it comes down to is you can perform well with any of the matchers top cells. In your situation you should be looking for customer service, product support, and people you trust. Lastly, do not get swept up in the numbers on the cells. You said you are just a beginner and the truth is any advantage you get from a 1.17 cell to a 1.22 cell is gone as soon as you clip a board.

Ok, let me help you out.....

Buy the CHEAPEST set of MATCHED IB3800 packs you can get from one of the reputable matchers mentioned on this thread. Keep in mind that if you are just getting back in you will probably BEAT these babies to death while you learn all of the tricks for keeping them alive. No need to blow big bucks on your learning curve. Get decent packs that will let you run lap after lap after lap. When you are ready....THEN you step up and buy some KILLER packs. At this point....the numbers really mean nothing to you. Don't get wrapped around the axle in the "Numbers" game.

GP3300's are more then enough for a beginner also and you can also find awesome deals on them right now....i still run my 2+ year old GP3300's and they rip pretty good...i just ran them last night in 19 turn foam and they were strong from beginning to end(TQ and 2nd place finish); not bad for some old batteries

While 3800's do have a "noticable gain" over the 3300's, you won't feel it unless you are a seasoned racer. With the 3800's and now 4300's out, you should be able to pick up 3300's for a very fair price. Once you feel like you are competitive with everyone else and have developed a routine method of discharging/charging, invest in some good cells. Once you do buy some good cells, I suggest that you talk to someone from the company you are purchasing from so you can get more detailed information on how to treat your packs.

Why is it that the majority of the replies don't answer the question, they just plug what they use, or their sponsors.

Of the choices listed in the original question, I would get the promatch or the brood batteries. Chances are all three will be fine. They are all reputable matchers. I personally have fusion and promatch packs. I normally buy my batteries from promatch. Brood has an excellent rep. Their packs are matched by arguably the most reputable battery company.

You had mentioned something about assembly being a positive. Promatch offers their packs already assembled. I don't know if they will put the deans plug on for you, but they do also sell assembled deans pigtails. Worst case is you have to solder on the pigtail.

Hehe, i think I am going to notice a pretty big gain since I am still using old 2400 cells!! I just cycled them and they seemed to have held up pretty well for being in the garage for 4 years (they were all dead shorted for storage though). They are still taking in over 2400 mah and have some pretty decent voltage.

I can't wait to get some 3800's!! They aren't much more expensive than the 3300's so I figure i might as well start here. Since by the time I get better, I'll be able to use these packs for practice and get whatever new fangled cell is out at that time....

3800's will be the dominant cell in the US in 06. Nothing over that will be legal to use in races. but again you lose any advantage the first time you get marshalled

Getting the best batteries isn't going to get you in the Amain.if you are the ffair or novice driver get the sport pack 3800 or best 3300 for now.

You can check out the matcher in my signature. He has good batteries for a reasonable price. I am not sponsered by him nor am I getting paid to promote his stuff, he just has good batteries!! If you do order from him tell him Yeti sent you, no this is not a commission thing, he just likes to know how you found out about them. He does do sport packs with either Deans or Tamiya plugs.

I would definetly recommend Fusion Batteries !!! They are out of the higher volt packs at the moment, but have IB3800's with 1.8+ volt, 3 packs for 79.99!! Thats unreal!!! And they come in superb quality and build!!
