I'm looking to purchase a nice set of hex tools and possibly nut drivers. I've looked into 3 brands. Money isn't a concern when purchasing a good set of drivers, but I don't want to spend more than I really have to. Here's links to the three brands and prices associated with them (lowest priced to highest):

1. JR Metric and US sized hex drivers - Total Price - Approximately $105.00 (a little cheaper at Horizon), 14 total pieces

Each has its own pro's and con's. For example, the EDS and Hudy use similar markings to distinguish the size of the tips which makes it convenient. The EDS features a rotating end cap, the Hudy does not. I believe both EDS and Hudy use the same manufacturer for the tips. That's what I've read from the research I've done.

The JR is cheaper, comes with more tools, but the I don't know how reliable and durable the steel is. They're not as well known as Hudy when it comes to producing tools. It does have a rotating end cap, but the hex tool doesn't use the same markings as EDS and Hudy to make it easy to choose the tool without looking for the actual marking for the size.

I have the Team Associated Factory Team hex and nut drivers but I really don't like the hex drivers. It doesn't feel good in my hands when wrenching. I've ruled out the MIP drivers because I need a set of drivers that I can replace the tips when needed, plus I hate the look and yes looks are somewhat important lol. Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated.

Yeah I was leaning towards Hudy or EDS, but the JR is priced nice and you get more tools for the money. Plus the tips are less than $3.00 each.

Hudy all the way. They are just that good. I have a freind who has eds and he has half of his tips replaced with Hudy ones.

U get what you pay for.

If you can afford, then HUDY obviously. But I don't think EDS will be a bad choice (no experience with them).

I have my same set of Speed Mind hex tools from 6 years ago that are still fine.

These things should be good as long as you take care of them.

I was advised against the JR set (quality not up to our needs) by guys involved high up in the hobby.

I use Hudy, OS and losi mainly and have nothing but praise for them (quality wise)

I have eds tools, just as good as any hudy,and if you shop around,you can find them for a little less cash.
and the mip brand is also good

Any other reasons why your points of contacts didn't like the JR set?

Cheapest I've found them is directly from EDS. I'll probably give them a call to get more info on these tools.

i like green... so i went with Xceed...
very similar or i bet same maker as EDS...
reasonably priced... works well, no issues found

just the quality was not what it should be wearing the JR name, i was keen to try a set but "they" turned me off

I can say with confidence.
My MIPs have been rock solid for the 6+ years. not one has dulled.
Wanted something PIMP so I bought an OS Speed set and they have been freaking fantastic...light and tough. Almost the same as the HUDY (had a full set in past).
after all said and done I keep going back to the MIP's

1. MIP
2. OS Speed
3. Hudy...

I've had both Hudy and Eds.

They both feel about the same and are very similar quality. So from the price point, I would go Eds.
