Which Brushless to get?
Which Brushless Motor should I get? Novak SS5800 or the Novak 6.5R or the Novak 5.5R? The ESC I will be getting for the motor will be the Novak GTB.

Well I'd use it for like half grip racing and half drifting. I will be getting a used MR-4TC SD SSD in like a week or so.

The Mamba Maxx is coming out soon and with their Phx-link and software the esc is easy to setup through the computer!

what about the reedy neo
i like novak
but that neo is like a 5.5 and i no one guy who was going 45 in a buggy
so u prob could go 50 something with it
and if u need more than fifty ur crazy

Barry Baker is driving a Brushless at the moment, a Reedy.. he is in the A-main mod at the moment at the Novak race...

I think there were only 18 total entires for the brushless class at the Novak race.....and that is sponsored by Novak and a cash prize up.....for grabs
I think "at the moment anyway" they are not going to be "race-competitive" with any of the good brushed systems out there......(Trinity, Orion, Checkpoint etc)
Again...this is "purely opinion" but it does not look like they are too popular at the "racing events"......but that being said...could be a great "practice or basher motor"
Depends on what application you are racing under...if you frequent the big races.....then I would say stay with the "brushed technology"
If not....I would probably go with the Novak system in the USA due to the support.....

BTW is the Reedy faster/better than the Novak 5.5R?

now if you have a lot of money get a brushed, its a lil faster
BUT you need a comm lathe, brushes and stuff like that
but ur a a avrage joe (like me) and u cant afford all that get a brushless, its lilttle to no maintnece
and i thing you should get the LRP sphere b/c it will run brushed motors too and has more ajustabulty that the novak super sport +
now if you have a lot of money get a brushed, its a lil faster

I know about the Neo One but there's a 13t, 11t, 9t, and 7t. Which is the one the guy hit 40 with? Also I was brousing through ebay and saw that the Neo One 9t is the cheapest among the 4. Any thoughts why? The 9t is faster than the 13t and 11t right? Tower Hobbies also shows that the 9t is the cheapest among the 4 with the 11t and 7t being most expensive. My opinion would differ; I see brushed motors dying a quick and painful death. Similar to the way Personal Transponders and Spectrum changed the face of RC racing... The brushless technology to anyone other than the most experienced motor tuner and individual who desire to blow $$ for brushes, lathes, springs etc.... Will find the brushless system the equalizer and the inevitable next step in racing, while remaining the lowest dollar (in the long run) hands down.
The delay in brushless systems in top racing forums (in my opinion) is simply the stronger racers have spent years learning to "tune" brushed motors and enhance their driving ability. It's scary for several to realize that tomorrow; it could actually be driving ability alone (okay batteries are the next step and lipo is here)... Just an opinion, but who would like to run mod power motor for over 100 consecutive races without anything more than blowing it off with compressor? If interested, get a brushless system and don't look back..
