Just received my kit, getting back into onroad. For those of you running 17.5 what is a good place to start for gearing?

First of all ,what size of the track and what motor brands do you have and go from there..

I'm not familiar with the track size. It will be my first time going to tuthe track. It's an indoor medium size carpet track. To start off with I have a reedy 17.5 from my off-road buggy. I will most likely pick up a R1 motor at the track.

You're best off asking the local racers what gearing they recommend for their track.

finally getting around to building mine as our season is going to start in the next month, would you consider using the Red aluminum steering posts for black carpet?

beyondthepack, when I switched to the chassis mounted steering vs the floating steering rack the car seemed to have a more direct steering response. Can't say that it gave me more overall steering but just that it felt more responsive.
