Default Rc10L build

Getting back into RC after a long absence. Had a bolink eliminator when I was youngerror so I picked up a bolink super sport not to long ago with a restmod in mind. Then a few weeks later a 10L got plopped in my lap. Never could afford one back in the day and I think I like the 10L better than the bolink so I'm going with that.

Any suggestions on this set up wise? Goal is speed, top speed... taking flight if possible. So I'm guessing brushless will get me the most bang? But I'm guess I have zero experience with brushless.

I already have a Novak brushed esc, servos and a few brushed motors so I may just set it up with those for now as I'm on a budget for sure. I also have some old futaba TX RX but I think I'm gonna go ahead and get a 2.4ghz set up.

Anyway just wanted to share I'm pumped about the ol girl.

I had an MRP GP10 which was a turd but my brother had a 10L in fiberglass that was sweet.
Go brushless and lipo for sure. On the Sale thread there are lots of racers who have to have the latest motors so they are always selling nice motors for about $30. Used ESCs are always on too. I prefer Hobbywing but others are good too.
As for batteries you might want to get a 'saddle pack' to sit on either side of the t-plate.
2.4ghz radios are a must have - everything has come so far since the old days!
Buy some 'tire sauce' to add much needed grip to those old tires and finally, find a local track where they race this class and have fun!

I have just finished building my old RC10L2 as well. Check out hobbyking for some lipos, speedies and motors reasonably priced.

i built my car with spare old electronics i had, i just needed a saddle lipo.
I added a protoform 905b shell and it goes great.

any questions just ask

here is the car running for the first time last week.

Here is a good thread on RCTECH.net if you are looking to dust off an old wide pan car...

Pro 10: 235mm Le Mans Prototype Pan Car Discussion

If you are looking for a body for the car, McAllister Racing still makes wide bodies for pan cars. Here is a link...
