oh Im not in the take it personal business....but I do see that there is no solution till ROAR or the USVTA makes a ruling. If they cap the IR and add restictions like 25.5, then this issue and threads like this go away. But we as racers will find something else to complain about, hence the reason none of the powers to be are in any rush to make a move. Why should they?. Almost every motor company is already in upgrade mode, and the average cost of a motor is still around $100, and its been like that for awhile. Now if you want all the bells and whistles for your motor and have the extra $50-$75, then knock yourself out. But dont hit the boards, cause then its just waste.

Guys the real key to all this is to have fun. We are just racing. Do we like to win?, yes... do we win?...maybe,...do we lose?...all the time. There can only be one winner, and 99% of the time its not us.

We need to all just run VTA and have fun, nobodys complaining about motors over here

or just quit all together cause there is no answer.

Ill wait?

Don't forget us OLD guys that have been at it for more than 30 years with NO sponsors. If it weren't for friends like Carl aka Freebird, Tim Moore EA and a few others, I'd be out all together. I can't beat the likes of EA anymore, but I'm still having a good time...

Oh okay cool. Sometimes what you want to say doesn't always come out right in a post.

There do need to be tighter rules for 21.5, and potentially 17.5 but the issue now is so many people have motors they're gonna scream why are you making me spend more money?

Waiting for ROAR to do something is like waiting for your ship to come in at the train station. And that's not really a shot at ROAR. There's a lengthy process that ROAR has to go through before they can make a rule change. Technology is changing too fast for ROAR or USVTA to keep up. Not to mention how fickle we racers can be. "Let's race this! No, wait, let's race that!"

The original question was how fair is 21.5? Well the answer is it depends on where you race. If you go to a track where the racers aren't on kill all the time then you'll have a decent shot. Go to a track where the weekly club race is as important as the Nats and you might have trouble, but even at that track there may be a few racers who will help you out and show you how to get the most out of what you have.

Myron - I couldn't agree more and has been exact point in this very same topic concerning 17.5. The motor cost is very close to what it has been all along.

Look, I have the $95 version on the TSR 21.5 and it is ballistic. Do I have any fear of getting beat by someone with the $149 version with all the bells and whistles, absolutely not! I don't even think you have to get into the boards to negate any variance in performance between the two. Driving and set-up will either keep you in line for the race win or it will be difference of why you're not winning. I race on large outdoor tracks and you don't have to be very far out of the ideal driving line to blow a lap. The key is not to miss the optimal line on every corner, on every lap. Bells and whistles will never make up for that.

So with that said, and also understanding motor prices haven't REALLY increased in quite some time....what the "issue" again? LOL.

Just looked, the HPI mustang is Pretty sharp . I'll keep running USGT as long as people keep showing up.

Meh then you could just call it vintage trans am racing. Be pretty cool IMO.

Relax. Lol. Just not into older muscle cars. I like older Japanese classics.
