Default How to properly glue Sedan tires for CRC Black Carpet

I hope this is OK to post here. At the snowbirds Alexander Hagberg and I had an Xray work shop and one of the topics I covered was how to properly glue sedan tires for the new CRC black carpet to help with traction rolling. I had tons of request to make a video showing how to do it and make it look nice but more importantly use a consistent method. Well here is a link to the video. Hopefully everyone can understand my redneck talk!!

While that was a very informative video, it would be nice if you could also make a companion video showing how a person new to the hobby could achieve similar results without using specialized equipment.

They only other way to get similar results is by doing it on the car with no pinion on the car and spinning the opposite tire. Its not as consistent this way though You need something that turns slow and at a steady speed.

And I wouldnt really call a tire sander as "specialized equipment". Pretty much every TC driver I know has one.

I don't understand why some tire manufacturer hasn't figured out how to make stiffer sidewalls and reduced grip on the sidewalls and sell it as a special carpet tire. Glueing sidewalls seems like a real pain in the rear.

just recently i went from glued side walls to not being glued. i'll see if i get the same results on a different track, which is probably not going to happen. but as much as i've been an advocate of gluing sidewalls, i didnt need it last few times at the track on the new carpet

i agree, but i think the best way to do it without the tire balancer is to have your cut on the glue to make a thin application on the tire and do it off the car laid flat. doing it on the car if i take too long it'll drip to one side and i'll have a clump at one point and now you have an inconsistent car
