Stupid Question: Touring Car chassis with LeMans style body? Possible?
So I was interested in Pan cars because of their aero... However the over simplistic design doesn't interest me very much.
So I began to wonder if it would be possible to combine the two: To mount a Lemans style body over a 1/10 touring car chassis? Now I could see that upper shock mount would be in the way, but I have noticed that some people have been able to lay the shocks down flat and connected by a bell crank and push rod.
I kind of have my heart set on a 1988 Nissan R88C Group C Prototype... But I could compromise with a Mazda 787B.
So what chassis would I need to make this happen? Would it be possible on something from Tamiya like the TRF419 or TB6 Evo?
Though I think those would be a big jump for me... considering that my onroad car is a very outdated TA02... Though with a carbon chassis and aluminium everything... getting something top tier may be foolish... may be wise... not sure

You may want to consider getting a newer 4wd sedan chassis and almost any of the ones sold today should be OK.

The TA05 + IFS looks good.
What about a TA06 or TA07? Will they be making an IFS kit and carbon chassis deck plates too? If so, TA07 looks good, right?
I'm worried too that the diff would get in the way... though I am willing to make compromises. Its possible to deform a lexan body with a heat gun right?
I had a look at mcallisters site... good that he does GT prototype stuff for 1/10th. Can he do custom orders? Or would it be better to try and find something from a pre-existing kit?

If you're willing to compromise on the body, Frewer Racing did a Porsche Le Mans shell back in the day (around 2000?) with a shock tower bulge. They'd be pretty rare by now though.

I have tried to mount the Tamiya group C bodies on a touring car, and unfortunately could not fit them on any, wheel base is too long, and even with ifs suspension, they do not sit low enough. Including the awesomatrix. If you want a 4wd group c car, with proper Tamiya body, the only chassis option is a F201 from Tamiya, which is discontinued as well, but you can find some on ebay, the conversion is easy, and you get a 4wd group c car that handles awesome, other then that not seen anything else that works, I hope I am wrong and there is another option, but the wheel base alone is an issue, let alone the low profile body.

In terms of how much more volume there is between the front wheels, a 787B could be easier as it has a fatter nose.
If I get a shaft driven car, I can easily shorten the drive shaft... Or I'm guessing you can get shorter length drive belts. I can also easily cut and drill my own carbon chassis plates for a shorter wheelbase. Sucks that there is no 'off the shelf' option... but I like a good engineering challenge

Whilst I love all nissans... the aero on that one doesn't seem as aggressive... and perhaps more on par with my GTS zed.
I think perhaps with availability in mind, with the 787B being so popular, that may be my best option.
With regards to shortening the chassis for belt drive cars, you can get shorter belts to spec right? I'm just assuming you can. Failing that I would need to stick with a shaft driven type. As I'm a machinist / mech engineer thats no problem. The only question is what chassis are available with laydown shocks? (Preferably Tamiya)

tamiya tb03 and tb04 can be made into ifs
