I have run both and both are a blast. But I'd say USGT for the following reasons...

1) I have found VTA tires are very inconsistent and it is always a huge challenge to get the car so it doesn't spin in the sweeper. USGT tires are very consistent and I have found the cars, since they have wings, are much easier to get to handle.

2) USGT tires are around $24 plus shipping and they are premounted. VTA tires run around $36 plus shipping and you have to mount them which I find to be a real pain. Plus the USGT tires last a bunch longer than the VTA. I wear out VTA fronts very quickly.

3) As someone else mentioned, VTA tire availability is sketchy.

But that's just me. Once you get the VTA to handle, they are a blast to drive. They are slower than USGT and it's easier to get the lines correct. And another poster really nailed it when they said, go out to your local track and see what they are running. We have an active VTA group. Our USGT group died out because we had a similar 21.5 class that used slick tires and more people liked that, so we dropped USGT.

The 71 is not yet ROAR legal but I am sure that Protoform has made it to ROAR spec and it will be approved soon. Most tracks are allowing it in VTA. The 68 Camaro is one of my favorites. I actually have both myself.

Actually it is approved

and if I may add, the USVTA class is the best class for many reasons...but imo, cause it allows you to grow without hurting your pockets...unlike other classes, a TC4 can make the A-main at a National event, just like a TC7.1.. a Novak 25.5 can as well....as well as a $50 esc, and $50 lipos...and ect... and by the class not being as hard on equipment...they last longer....

and as tires go, VTA tires last twice as long as USGT tires....Ive got VTA tires that are 2 years old and still good with tread....the slower speeds keep wear to a min (on carpet)....tires and rims are plentiful as mention if you check around.. TQ Racing has them for sure

Great gear Darkside. I love the mechanical aspect behind this hobby and love tinkering the most. Just hope my driving skills catch up.

Well, once USGT switches to 25.5 it will change the answer to the question.

Darkside would tell you I'm sure, the driving part comes with lots of practice.

My god......I wish they'd just figure this out before I'm stuck with a bunch of useless 21.5 motors!

Since everyone has been so helpful I thought I would post my current build stage.

Never posted a pic here so hopefully it works.

Depends on which class you decide to run but once you narrow that down I'm sure you'll find more than enough info here.
